GLOBE UPDATES Chromebook Insurance Chromebook Insurance must be purchased prior to September 4. ( Click the image to download the form.) The Georgia Department of Education, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Public Health, has developed guidance to support districts and communities in determining their plans and strategies for reopening schools. The GLOBE Academy will use this and other resources in developing its reopening plan.  Extended Care We hope that we will be able to meet all your extended day needs while still maintaining all the new health regulations due to the Covid-19 virus. Currently, we are working on the registration process for Before- and Aftercare. We are confident that we will be able to meet your Aftercare needs. Please be on the look-out for information regarding Aftercare registration in mid-June .  We have decided that at this time, due to health and safety concerns, we will not be offering enrichment classes for fall semester. We are hoping to be able to offer enrichment classes in January 2021 .  If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Aftercare program, please do not hesitate to contact the ECP Program at ecp@theglobeacademy.net . ADMISSIONS Change of Plans? GLOBE would like to account for our enrollment numbers for next year. Due to DeKalb's budget cuts, it is more important than ever that we have an accurate student count. Complete the google form below if your child will not return for the 2020-21 school year. *Note, this does not apply to graduating 8th graders. Survey: Student Un-enrollment 2020-21 Please know, it is OKAY if your family's plans have changed! Your family needs to do what is best for your student. If you already know you will not be returning, complete the survey as soon as possible. If at any time in the coming weeks and months you learn you will not return to GLOBE for the 2020-21 school year, contact megan.brown@theglobeacademy.net Transcript requests can be submitted to: registrar@theglobeacademy.net Ambassadors The school year has come to an end, and now we’d love to find creative ways to welcome our newest members to the community. If you are a current GLOBE family and would like to help out, please contact Meg Brown, Admissions director, if you are interested in serving as an Ambassador. megan.brown@theglobeacademy.net  Need to meet with an administrator? Please send an email to schedule an appointment. We will be using Google Hangouts to facilitate face-to-face meetings during the school closure. Our summer office hours will be M-Th from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  These are subject to change depending on what happens. We are asking that anyone who visits the building wait to come in until someone has greeted you at the door. If you do come into the building, we also ask that you wear a mask and use hand sanitizer.     FUNDRAISING CORNER School Supplies *UPDATED* School supply lists for 2020-2021 school year are now available on our website .  Parents may purchase at the store of their choice or from the school supplies program with Yubbler.com again this year. When you purchase your school supplies on Yubbler.com , our school will receive 50% of the profits! Last year GLOBE earned $4755.88! Visit GLOBE’s Yubbler page here to place your order. Be sure to register for a coupon code ahead of time. Please note that there are no refunds available in the event of changes to the 2020-2021 school year. *Parents of UC students (grades 4-8) will also be asked to purchase insurance for school Chromebooks so that they can go back and forth between school and home in case of Distance Learning. Insurance will be $20/student. Links will be available in mid-July. GLOBE Annual Fund The 2019 Annual Fund , GLOBE’s largest annual fundraiser, is still underway. As a public charter school, The GLOBE Academy receives some of its funding from DeKalb County, however charter schools do not receive the same level of funding as traditional public schools. To support the educational excellence we strive for and the continued growth of our school, GLOBE needs your help.   This year’s goal is to raise $250K and have 100% of our families contribute to the fund. Every unrestricted dollar contributed will be used to provide for the outstanding faculty, programs, and improved facilities that directly benefit our students every day. The GLOBE Auction We are thrilled to announce that the final numbers are in, and the 2020 GLOBE Auction raised an incredible $73,080 in this year’s (virtual) Auction! In addition, we achieved our $5,000+ goal for the Library Books Fund-a-Project! WAY TO GO, GLOBE! The committee would like to say thank you to everyone who helped make this year a great success – especially to the shoppers! EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS! There are still catalog items left to buy, including spots several Teacher Treasures redeemable until the end of 2020! And, be on the lookout early next school year when we auction off the coveted CARPOOL FLAGS!
