Global Learning Opportunities through Balanced Education
GLOBE WEEKLY REMINDERS
This is the best resource for staying in the know.
Dear GLOBE Community,
Have you donated to The GLOBE Annual Fund yet? While The GLOBE Academy receives some of its funding from DeKalb County, charter schools do not receive the same level of funding as traditional public schools. To support the educational excellence we strive for and the continued growth of our school, GLOBE needs your help. Read more.
And good news! Yearbooks are finally here! You can pick them up between 10 a.m. and noontoday, Thursday and Friday at Upper Campus. Please see details below.
We are sharing the following toolkits to provide our GLOBE community with common language, suggestions for reading and viewing, and tips/tools for allyship.
Please plan to pick up your yearbook THIS week - today, Thursday, or Friday at Upper Campus. Park in the main lot, and walk to the red double doors facing Briarcliff to pick up your yearbook by the Auditorium. Volunteers will be available to hand out books between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day. Please wear a mask.
Can't come? Send an email to a friend asking him/her to pick up the yearbook for you. Volunteers will require printed evidence that you have given permission to release your book.
That doesn't work either? Don't worry! We'll hold your book for you until we come back to school in August. Books will NOT be available for pick up during summer office hours.
PLEASE NOTE - 8th grade yearbooks have been sent directly to student homes and should arrive this week.

Parent Satisfaction Survey
GLOBE's 2019-2020 Parent Satisfaction Survey is still open and we hope that you will take a few minutes to submit yours. Your feedback is very important to us and will give GLOBE leadership the necessary insights to position our school and programming for continual growth and improvement.
The deadline for submission is 11:59 p.m. June 21, 2020.
Chromebook Insurance must be purchased prior to September 4. (Click the image to download the form.)
Georgia’s Path to Recovery for K-12 Schools
The Georgia Department of Education, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Public Health, has developed guidance to support districts and communities in determining their plans and strategies for reopening schools. The GLOBE Academy will use this and other resources in developing its reopening plan.
We hope that we will be able to meet all your extended day needs while still maintaining all the new health regulations due to the Covid-19 virus.
Currently, we are working on the registration process for Before- and Aftercare. We are confident that we will be able to meet your Aftercare needs. Please be on the look-out for information regarding Aftercare registration in mid-June.
We have decided that at this time, due to health and safety concerns, we will not be offering enrichment classes for fall semester. We are hoping to be able to offer enrichment classes in January 2021.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Aftercare program, please do not hesitate to contact the ECP Program at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Change of Plans?
GLOBE would like to account for our enrollment numbers for next year. Due to DeKalb's budget cuts, it is more important than ever that we have an accurate student count. Complete the google form below if your child will not return for the 2020-21 school year. *Note, this does not apply to graduating 8th graders.
Please know, it is OKAY if your family's plans have changed! Your family needs to do what is best for your student. If you already know you will not be returning, complete the survey as soon as possible. If at any time in the coming weeks and months you learn you will not return to GLOBE for the 2020-21 school year, contact email@example.com
School supply lists for 2020-2021 school year are now available on our website.
Parents may purchase at the store of their choice or from the school supplies program with Yubbler.com again this year. When you purchase your school supplies on Yubbler.com, our school will receive 50% of the profits! Last year GLOBE earned $4755.88!
Visit GLOBE’s Yubbler page here to place your order. Be sure to register for a coupon codeahead of time.
Please note that there are no refunds available in the event of changes to the 2020-2021 school year.
*Parents of UC students (grades 4-8) will also be asked to purchase insurance for school Chromebooks so that they can go back and forth between school and home in case of Distance Learning. Insurance will be $20/student.
GLOBE Annual Fund
The 2019 Annual Fund, GLOBE’s largest annual fundraiser, is still underway. As a public charter school, The GLOBE Academy receives some of its funding from DeKalb County, however charter schools do not receive the same level of funding as traditional public schools. To support the educational excellence we strive for and the continued growth of our school, GLOBE needs your help.
This year’s goal is to raise $250K and have 100% of our families contribute to the fund. Every unrestricted dollar contributed will be used to provide for the outstanding faculty, programs, and improved facilities that directly benefit our students every day.
Need to meet with an administrator?
Please send an email to schedule an appointment. We will be using Google Hangouts to facilitate face-to-face meetings during the school closure.
Our summer office hours will be M-Th from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. These are subject to change depending on what happens. We are asking that anyone who visits the building wait to come in until someone has greeted you at the door. If you do come into the building, we also ask that you wear a mask and use hand sanitizer.
