Dear GLOBE Community,   Are you following us on social media? If not, go now! Check us out and connect with us via our Instagram and Facebook pages. We would also love for students to send postcards of their summer adventures and share pics of our students via email ( communications@theglobeacademy.net ) and our social media channels. Even though we know these adventures will look differently this year, we still want to share in all the fun we know they’re going to have; and to share it with the entire GLOBE Community! SCHOOL GRADES *UPDATED* Middle School grades were finalized last week, and Report Cards will be mailed shortly. The office will hold report cards until Chromebooks, teacher library books, and school instruments have been returned. Kindergarten through 5th grade will not receive end of year progress reports from GLOBE. We are proud of all the work that our students put forth during this distance learning time. If your student is not ready for the next grade level, you would have heard from your teachers by now.   

GLOBE UPDATES Summer Assignments Summer assignments are now available on our website. Click here . 2019-2020 Yearbooks *UPDATED* The yearbook arrival date has not yet been set, BUT...Digital Signing is LIVE for everyone! Register here to receive a unique URL for your digital yearbook pages, which can be shared with classmates, friends, and teachers, inviting them to sign. Digitally signed pages will become printable PDF as a permanent keepsake. ADMISSIONS Change of Plans? GLOBE would like to account for our enrollment numbers for next year. Due to DeKalb's budget cuts, it is more important than ever that we have an accurate student count. Complete the google form below if your child will not return for the 2020-21 school year. *Note, this does not apply to graduating 8th graders. Survey: Student Un-enrollment 2020-21 Please know, it is OKAY if your family's plans have changed! Your family needs to do what is best for your student. If you already know you will not be returning, complete the survey as soon as possible. If at any time in the coming weeks and months you learn you will not return to GLOBE for the 2020-21 school year, contact megan.brown@theglobeacademy.net Transcript requests can be submitted to: registrar@theglobeacademy.net Ambassadors The school year has come to an end, and now we’d love to find creative ways to welcome our newest members to the community. If you are a current GLOBE family and would like to help out, please contact Meg Brown, Admissions director, if you are interested in serving as an Ambassador. megan.brown@theglobeacademy.net  GLOBE Host Families Wanted French Teaching Intern Host Families are needed for *2021. Please contact Robyn Brandman, Host Family liaison for details, robynloren@gmail.com . *New French FTI’s will be joining us from January 2021-May 2021 . Need to meet with an administrator? Please send an email to schedule an appointment. We will be using Google Hangouts to facilitate face-to-face meetings during the school closure. Our summer office hours will be M-Th from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  These are subject to change depending on what happens. We are asking that anyone who visits the building wait to come in until someone has greeted you at the door. If you do come into the building, we also ask that you wear a mask and use hand sanitizer.     FUNDRAISING CORNER School Supplies *UPDATED* School supply lists for 2020-2021 school year are now available on our website .  Parents may purchase at the store of their choice or from the school supplies program with Yubbler.com again this year. When you purchase your school supplies on Yubbler.com , our school will receive 50% of the profits! Last year GLOBE earned $4755.88! Visit GLOBE’s Yubbler page here to place your order. Be sure to register for a coupon code ahead of time. Please note that there are no refunds available in the event of changes to the 2020-2021 school year. *Parents of UC students (grades 4-8) will also be asked to purchase insurance for school Chromebooks so that they can go back and forth between school and home in case of Distance Learning. Insurance will be $20/student. Links will be available in mid-July. GLOBE Annual Fund The Annual Fund , GLOBE’s largest annual fundraiser, is underway. As a public charter school, The GLOBE Academy receives some of its funding from DeKalb County, however charter schools do not receive the same level of funding as traditional public schools. To support the educational excellence we strive for and the continued growth of our school, GLOBE needs your help.   This year’s goal is to raise $250K and have 100% of our families contribute to the fund. Every unrestricted dollar contributed will be used to provide for the outstanding faculty, programs, and improved facilities that directly benefit our students every day. Thank you for Supporting The GLOBE Auction The 2020 “An Evening Around the GLOBE” Auction was a tremendous success! Thank you to all that registered, followed along virtually, and bid on the fantastic donations in the Auction. We appreciate the hard work of our volunteers! When the going got tough, the committee got tougher and pulled it off! We will report the final tallie of raised funds once we have them. In the meantime, items that didn’t sell during the Auction can be found in our FIRE SALE . Click the “fire sale” category in the menu to see what’s available. Finally, it’s never too late to make a donation to our Fund-a-Project, buying and dedicating books for the upper and lower campus libraries. Our goal is $5,000. Help us make it happen!

Meal Pickups  School Nutrition Services and Transportation will continue to provide meals throughout the month of May and the summer months on Monday, Wednesday and Friday .
