GMAR member Rochelle Gamauf and her team at the SE WI Emergency Support Group are still moving forward in their efforts to help those in need.
We are making a difference going on 17 weeks!!
Each week they deliver
450 pounds of donated food, personal care, pet supplies and household items to families in need. Their efforts evolved into an official not-for-profit organization and obtained their 501C3 status. At this time they are actively transitioning into a "choice pantry". This new format will allow families the flexibility to shop and order available items online in addition to meals.
As they continue to expand their services, a few temporary changes have been made to stay compliant with necessary regulations. The home-cooked meals have been placed on hold, however they have explored alternative ways to get the home-cooked meal concept to their families via a meal kit. This kit contains everything the family needs to prepare a home-cooked meal. By providing these kits they hope to encourage families to learn to cook or expand their current skills and have more interaction within the family unit. Her team has found that families can cook on their own but still need the right ingredients and maybe a little positive encouragement. Right now, they are looking to secure a commercial kitchen. Once this is obtained, they can purchase food in bulk and lower the cost per kit. This will go a long way to helping even more people.
We still need your help and there are 3 ways in which you can do so.
- Please make a donation through the GoFundMe page to help pay for the food purchsed each week for the meal kits.
- Donate items needed to the specified drop off locations.
- Volunteer to help with collections, delivery, weekly prep or administrative assistance.
Our GMAR members have really stepped up and shown their support to their local communities and we hope to see this continue.
