On May 27, the U.S. House unanimously passed the VA Home Loan Reform Act (H.R. 1815) - ensuring veterans can use their VA home loan benefits to directly compensate their real estate agents.

This change keeps veterans and service members competitive in today’s market and ensures they have access to the professional representation they deserve.

Washington County's Heart & Homestead Earned Down Payment Incentive is provided to individuals 18 years and older who are constructing or purchasing an owner-occupied dwelling unit (home and land) under $420,000 located in Washington County, that serves as the recipient's primary residence. The incentive amounts will be 10% of the purchase price, or $20,000, whichever is less pre-paid at the time of closing to the recipient.

Starting Tuesday, July 29th at 10 AM, they will begin accepting applications from qualified PRE-APPROVED individuals through their online portal. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. The portal will remain open as long as funds are available, so be sure to have customers get pre-approved prior to July 29th to be first in line!

The 2025 build season is off to a strong start. 19 of 34 homes are already underway! This year, Milwaukee Habitat is partnering with Envision Growth, LISC Milwaukee, and CDA to help local Early Childhood Educators become homeowners. Thanks to a $1 million gift from Herb Kohl Philanthropies, eight homes will be sold to educators for around $100,000.
