Encourage Your Current Sophomore or Junior to Apply to GO CAPS for the 2023-2024 School Year
Parents/guardians of current sophomores and juniors:

Greater Ozarks Centers for Advanced Professional Studies (GO CAPS) is a year-long experience that allows high school juniors and seniors to test drive their future career options and to develop professional skills by engaging in first-hand experiences with business partners.

Authentic career exploration will be offered through each of the following strands:
  • Medicine & Health Care
  • Business & Entrepreneurship
  • Engineering & Manufacturing

GO CAPS is a partnership between Springfield Public Schools and the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Classrooms are located at Cox North, Mercy, eFactory and at OTC’s new Plaster Center for Advanced Manufacturing.
Why should a student consider GO CAPS?
Whether a student has decided about their future or not, GO CAPS will provide them with exploratory career experiences designed to help them affirm or narrow their interests. Our instructors and business partners will help the student to build and sharpen the professional skills that will set them apart from others. Learning opportunities during the program will help them realize their strengths and weaknesses and develop a new level of confidence. Students will meet new people and shadow those who are doing the real work in the areas of their interests.  With the knowledge they gain during GO CAPS, they will be able to make more informed decisions about their future.
HOW DOES GO CAPS FIT WITH THE STUDENT'S SCHEDULE?

GO CAPS is a half day, full year commitment for which you will earn three (3) practical arts credits. Students may already have the space needed to fit GO CAPS into their schedule next year. If not, they may consider taking a Launch course this summer or even concurrently next fall to help create some room. The school counselor can help determine the best fit for their schedule.
COME TEST DRIVE YOUR FUTURE WITH GO CAPS!
