SEPTEMBER 17: 11th Annual SHREDFEST, Fox Financial, Olean, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This will be a drive-through only event. Drive through their back parking lot on Wayne Street...you will see the signs. Please bring your papers to shred. They will unload your boxes and take them directly to the Shred-It Truck for on site destruction. They also will have a treat bag for you to take home.

SEPTEMBER 19: CELEBRATION OF THE ARTS, Woodside Tavern on the Range, 3319 West River Rd., Olean, 2 to 6 p.m. Among festivities at the Tri-County Arts Council’s 2021 Celebration of the Arts! will be the presentation of the Tom Barnes Lifetime Achievement Award to local artist Peg Bothner. The public is invited to attend the fun annual event which will also include live music by the Sticktights from 2 – 6 p.m. In addition to live music by the Sticktights, the 2021 Celebration of the Arts! will hold a Pig Roast and begin a raffle with a chance to win art by Mikel Wintermantel, Peter Jones, Glenn Zweygardt and Barbara Fox. Tickets are $30 each or $50 for a couple (2 tickets) and include the Pig Roast with two drinks and a raffle ticket for the art raffle. Tickets can be purchased online, in person at the Tri-County Arts Council, 110 w. SEPTEMBER 23: FIELD TRIP--Pfeiffer Nature Center Visit to Little Rock City, Little Valley, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nature enthusiast Tim Baird will be your guide as you view these unique conglomerate rock features and learn how they were formed. There promises to be lots to see and hear as Little Rock City is surrounded by State Forest teeming with mature trees and many interesting plants and animals. Walking will be fairly easy, but be sure to wear proper footwear such as sneakers or day hikers. Picnic tables are available so please bring along your lunch. The Nature Center will provide coolers with ice and water if refrigeration is needed. For COVID safety, plan to drive yourself unless you are able to car pool with a friend or family member. Details on the meeting location to begin the trip will be shared following your registration. Space is limited so reserve your spot today! SEPTEMBER 23: DIABETES Self-Management Education and Support Services Programs, Bradford Regional Medical Center, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The classes address diabetes related topics such as what is diabetes, the different types of diabetes, management of diabetes including meal planning, medications, and physical activity, and other related topics. SEPTEMBER 24: WEBINAR "Practices for Cattaraugus Gives Success: From your peers through Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, 12 to 1 p.m. Moderated by Kirk Windus, CRCF communications and fund development manager, and featuring panelists from Empire Animal Rescue Society, YMCA of the Twin Tiers and Olean City School District Foundation, this session will give attendees the chance to learn strategies and gather tips from organizations who have found success through Cattaraugus Gives. OCTOBER 1: CHALK THE PARK, Lincoln Park, Olean. Downtown Olean will gain a splash of color October 1 as local organizations host a chalk art contest in which participants can win prizes. Sponsored by the Cattaraugus County Community Services, Suicide Prevention Coalition, Olean Public Library and Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, the Chalk the Park contest invites everyone to chalk it up on the 100 block of East State — Lincoln Park in Olean. Participants can start their creation anytime on Friday, October 1st until judging begins at 7 p.m. The sidewalk surrounding Lincoln Park creates canvas’ for each chalk artist participating. To register, please stop in the Olean Public Library or the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce after September 22nd and up to September 30th to pick up your complimentary chalk pack and be assigned a spot at Lincoln Park. You will need to give the participant’s name, age group, address, phone number and email address. Prizes will be separated into three age groups: 10 and younger; 11 to 15; and 16 and older.
