Month of July: TEEN AIR-DRY CLAY MAGNET PROJECT, Olean Public Library. Teens can grab a kit at the Information Desk to create some animal magnets out of air-dry clay! The possibili- ties are endless with these kits. BONUS: If you bring in your magnet or a photo of it, you get an entry into the Summer Reading Grand Prize raffle!

NOW THRU AUGUST: SUMMER SELF-LED PHOTO ICON WALK, Pfeiffer Nature Center, 1974 Lillibridge Road, Portville. Summer is here and it is the perfect time to explore nature! This walk will make multiple stops at iconic features or views which are sure to catch your eye as well as your camera lens. This “choose your own day” and “set your own pace” photography walk is a fun way to get outside and appreciate the grandeur which surrounds us.

J ULY 8: WOMEN in NETWORKING PROGRAM, Small Business Development Center, Jamestown Community College, Jamestown, 12 p.m. While this event usually takes place in person, during the COVID19 pandemic, women are meeting via zoom to exchange ideas, experiences, and address challenging issues. Each person briefly shares their latest business news and then participates in a learning opportunity with a presentation on a topic of interest. The SBDC has helped to build productive business relationships that benefit women throughout the region with this program. JULY 10: HEALTHY KIDS DAY, Olean Family YMCA, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A tummy full of healthy food. A cup of physical activity. A tablespoon of laugher. A pinch of curiosity. And a dash of fun! Healthy Kids Day provides all the ingredients for developing healthy, resilient kids. Join the Y for a day full of fun activities that celebrate kids being kids! This event is FREE and open to the public!
Activities include large vendor fair with local agencies and organizations, inflatables, kids fitness demos, face painting, potting, rock painting, firetruck, ambulance, police car, child ID cards, free hot dogs and popsicles and much more!

JULY 12 – 15: SBU SOFTBALL CAMPS and CLINICS, St. Bonaventure University, Joyce Field, St. Bonaventure. This youth camp offers half for 6-8 year olds and full day (9-12 year olds) options with pre-registration requested. Your young athlete will be learning from SBU softball coaching staff, area high school coaches and area travel ball coaches, with motivational talks from guest speakers and current/former SBU softball players. JULY 14-18: GENESIS HOUSE virtual 5K WALK/RUN, online event. Help support our local shelter with your own two feet! Walk or run on a virtual 5K through beautiful walkable Olean. Participants will complete the provided route anytime between July 14th-18th. Local congregations will display mile markers along the route. They encourage you to snap a photo of you and/or your team along the route and share on social media. REGISTER

JULY 15: OPEN HOUSE and SUNSET CELEBRATION, Pfeiffer Nature Center, 1974 Lillibridge Road, Portville, 7 to 9 p.m. Take a step back in time and visit Pfeiffer Nature Center during theirr chestnut cabin open house and sunset celebration! The lovely and well preserved American chestnut cabin, which is listed on the state and national register of historic places, has remained unchanged since its 1939/1940 construction. Donations are gratefully accepted. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations are not required.

JULY 20, 22: WOOD SPOON CARVING, Jamestown Community College, Olean, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. During this workshop, participants will carve a wooden cooking spoon using traditional wood carving tools. Carving tools and a pre-dimensioned piece of cherry will be provided. Participants will be shown how to design and carve a spoon while taking into consideration the wood's grain direction. This will be a fun, hands-on 6-hour workshop that takes place over 2 nights. You will be able to come in without prior knowledge or supplies, and leave with a beautiful custom-designed, handmade spoon. The fee is $59. REGISTRATION and INFORMATION
