With the closing of the First Presbyterian Church in Kouts there are still FREE treasures that need new homes to include: 12 foot pews (16 available), first aid kit, coffee pot, serving trays, coffee/tea supplies, pulpit, baptistry,

a child-sized table & chairs, air hockey table, kitchen items, microwave, piano and SO MANY more adoptable items.

The Ministry and Outreach Committee of the Presbytery of Wabash Valley is seeking congregations to spread the word and love of Christ by offering grants for innovative and meaningful projects and programs like:

Our One Great Hour of Sharing offerings, those cute and confounding to assemble fish banks, collect funds every year to support important causes such as Presbyterian Hunger Relief, Self-Development of People and the amazing arm of the church, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. PDA assists communities around the country and around the globe in recuperating from natural and non-natural disaster. PDA is present in our own community right now. On March 10, a powerful EF-3 tornado hit Lake Village. The recovery will take months and possibly years. Dozens of homes were completely destroyed or uninhabitable. The only grocery store and gas station were destroyed. Two persons were killed.

Donations of bottled water, bleach, and non-perishables to support both the responders and those whose homes have been affected by the tornadoes may be delivered to:

Food donations may be delivered to Lake Village Presbyterian Church, 9412 N 3000 W in Lake Village, daily from 10 am-6 pm central time.
Cleaning supplies may be delivered to the Lake Village Community Center.
Those wishing to volunteer their time should contact LaSalle Fish and Wildlife at (219) 992-3019.

Monetary donations for Lake Village may be sent to the Presbytery of Wabash Valley, PO Box 225, Rochester IN 46975, or contributed through One Great Hour of Sharing. If you have donations but cannot deliver them to Lake Village, please contact the presbytery office and we will arrange for pick-up.

9th Interfaith Prayer Vigil

Multi-faith Clergy and People of Faith

Miami Correctional Facility- Bunker Hill, Indiana

Monday, April 27th at 2pm

You are invited to join clergy, congregational leaders and people of faith from around the state of Indiana at the 9th Multi-Faith Prayer Vigil for our immigrant neighbors. Monday, April 27th at 2pm at the Miami Correctional Facility (US 31N). The location and date have been approved by the Indiana Department of Corrections. 2:00pm at the Miami Correctional Facility near Bunker Hill, IN.

We continue to be deeply concerned about the state of the prison and its continued use to detain immigrants for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This concern has only deepened with the recent death of Lorth Sim, a Cambodian immigrant being held in detention at Miami at the time of his death.
This public prayer witness will call our elected leaders to pursue transparency, accountability, and policies rooted in justice and compassion.
This gathering will include readings, songs, prayers, and statements from across faith traditions calling for dignity and justice for immigrants and refugees.
We will stand in prayerful solidarity with the immigrant communities and call attention to the urgent need for humane treatment of all people.

Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day

known in Israel as Yom HaShoah (or Yom HaZikaron laShoah ve-la G'vurah), is Israel's official annual commemoration honoring the six million Jews murdered by Nazis and their collaborators, along with Jewish resistance and heroism. It marks the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising

National Siren: At 10:00 AM, a two-minute air-raid siren sounds across Israel, bringing the entire country to a standstill for silent reflection.
Official Ceremonies: The state opening ceremony is held at Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, featuring the lighting of six torches by survivors.
Focus on Agency: The day emphasizes not only the "martyrs" (those killed) but also the "heroes" (those who fought back or demonstrated spiritual resistance).
Timing: The date was selected to align with the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising (April–May 1943).
Symbolism: It falls between Passover and Israel's Memorial Day/Independence Day, emphasizing the transition from destruction to revival.
"Unto Every Person There Is A Name": A central, long-running program involves reading aloud the names of victims at Yad Vashem and other locations.
While International Holocaust Remembrance Day is observed worldwide on January 27 (liberation of Auschwitz), Yom HaShoah is specifically tied to the Israeli/Jewish calendar and places a strong focus on the Jewish experience of resistance and national remembrance.
