A Word from Jennifer

We’ve known for a long time that we are a divided nation. Some of us are personally very keenly aware of the deep and systemic problems that exist in our nation. Some of us hold hope that our values of loving our neighbor will one day translate into greater health and wholeness for all.

Whatever your perspective on the results of this week’s elections, I hope you will take time to pray for our nation, which is no less divided today than it was on Monday.

I hope you will think about the principles of what it means to be a Presbyterian, which includes these profoundly important words about the calling of the Church:

  • “The Church is the body of Christ. Christ gives to the Church all the gifts necessary to be his body. The Church strives to demonstrate these gifts in its life as a community in the world (1 Cor. 12:27–28):
  • The Church is to be a community of faith, entrusting itself to God alone, even at the risk of losing its life.
  • The Church is to be a community of hope, rejoicing in the sure and certain knowledge that, in Christ, God is making a new creation. This new creation is a new beginning for human life and for all things.
  • The Church lives in the present on the strength of that promised new creation.
  • The Church is to be a community of love, where sin is forgiven, reconciliation is accomplished, and the dividing walls of hostility are torn down.
  • The Church is to be a community of witness, pointing beyond itself through word and work to the good news of God’s transforming grace in Christ Jesus its Lord.” (Book of Order F-1.0301)

I hope you take time for yourself as you seek to lead God’s imperfect, forgiven people.

 The Presbytery of Wabash Valley

taking applications for Administrative Director Position

From: The Presbytery's Personnel Team

Dear Friends,

Our Presbytery's Administrative Director, the amazing Vicki Dreibelbis, will retire from her ministry among us effective December 31, 2024. Vicki has been a continuing stabilizing presence in our midst for almost two decades and she will be missed for so many reasons.

It is important that we move expeditiously in seeking a new Administrative Director - to begin on or before December 9, 2024 - to provide some overlap time before Vicki retires.

Here you will find both an announcement for and a description of the position of Administrative Director. PLEASE share these documents with any members of your congregation and/or community you believe would be a good fit for this position – those whose love for and commitment to the church would shine in this ministry opportunity.

We are grateful for your assistance in helping us identify the most appropriate person to be our Presbytery's next Administrative Director.

With our gratitude,

The Personnel Team of the Presbytery of Wabash Valley

We will share our thanks, blessings, and farewells with Vicki at the 12/3 hybrid assembly at Lafayette, Central. As part of that thanks, the Personnel Ministry Team invites you and/or congregation to share a monetary gift, which will be included in a collective farewell financial gift. Please make your check payable to the Presbytery of Wabash Valley - Dreibelbis Gift and mail it by Friday, November 29 to the presbytery: P.O. Box 225; Rochester, IN 46975. The Personnel Ministry Team also invites you and your congregations to share a thank you note/farewell card with Vicki. Prayers of the Presbytery and our world!

Huntington FPC

There are times when the challenges we face seem far too great to handle, but we know that nothing is too difficult for You, O' God. We come before You today, asking for Your help in trusting in Your power, rather than relying on our own strength.

We pray

  • today giving thanks for the ministry and service of the faithful at First Presbyterian Church of Huntington.
  • for Kathy and Corlin Stein, Portage, First Presbyterian Church, as Kathy continues to have health concerns.
  • welcoming Angie Hufford to the Rossville Presbyterian Church as their current pastor.
  • for the family and the members of First Presbyterian Church of Lebanon in their loss and grief of losing Mildred Flanary, who passed away, Saturday, November 2nd.
  • for all of the PWV volunteers as they work tirelessly to serve our Lord and our congregations.
  • for those who face chronic health concerns.
  • for congregations and their members as they face challenging times.
  • for those who continue to recover from hurricanes Helene and Milton.
  • for PEACE!

Your Gifts at Work

PDA is thankful for the continued generosity of Presbyterians, which enables us — together — to bear witness of the healing love of Christ to disaster survivors around the world.

As needs abound, it is important that we show love for our neighbors. We pray that you will continue to share the gifts of your time, treasure, and talents as a tangible sign of God's love for families whose lives have been disrupted by disaster.
