|
|
By Mike May
French Lick’s Pete Dye Course
is truly in a category unto itself, there’s nothing like it, and it has no peers in the world of golf. Those are three ways to describe The Pete Dye Course …
In 2019, the French Lick Resort was selected among the Editors’ Choice Award by Golf Digest as one of the
Best Golf Resorts in the Midwest
and, most recently, its Pete Dye and Donald Ross courses were ranked among the publication’s list of
America's 100 Greatest Public Courses
. The Pete Dye Course moved up two spots to No. 17 on the list and the Donald Ross Course was ranked No. 99. And, The Pete Dye Course is ranked #1 in Indiana on GolfWeek’s “Best Courses You Can Play” list.

Big Run Golf Club Turns 90 This Season!
|
|
Golf has new beginnings and it also has past memories and years of history. This year, excitement is brewing at
Big Run Golf Club
as they celebrate their
90th golf season
! Yes, Big Run is definitely open for play and they would like to invite you to come try their challenging layout that is made up of great elevation changes and 100-year-old oak trees spread throughout the golf course, not to mention Long Run Creek that meanders the entire property coming into play on several of the holes.
Word on the street had been that Big Run was sold, or they were closed, but this could not be further from the truth according to Big Run’s PGA Golf Professional/General Manager, Bill Roper. Bill tells us,
“We are OPEN and operating a normal golf schedule according to state guidelines. The truth of the matter is we are currently in the process of be annexed into the Village of Lockport as we speak, and this could take some time. This information is what has spurred the RUMORS in regard to our being sold or closing.”
Big Run continues to offer a fantastic round of golf along with great promotions to its golfers. “Customer Appreciation Days” every Monday and Tuesday is one of their most popular promotions that runs from May through October. Give them a call to check out rates, book a tee time, and take advantage of their special rates on Mondays and Tuesdays! If you haven’t played Big Run, we at GOLF NOW! Chicago encourage you to check it out … it’s one of a kind and worth the trip to play it this summer!
