Managing Diabetes during COVID-19
Diabetes has affected approximately 1.2 million Australians in 2017-2018 and contributed to 11% of deaths in Australia in 2018.

With social isolation recommendations to reduce COVID-19 spread, GPs have been managing health care delivery for regular consultations for patients with diabetes through telehealth over face-to-face contact.

There are a number of MBS items that can be used to provide diabetes care in general practice. Both the Diabetes Annual Cycle of Care (including Diabetes SIP) and GPMP and TCA can be claimed for the same patient during one visit.

Improving COVID-19 Pathology and Test Names Mapping
We have found more than 70 pathology names for COVID-19 testing in use in just one state and are currently reviewing approximately 150 new names to be added to the existing test names.

Working with a number of PHNs across the country, we continue to expand our pathology name mapping to capture all possible names used by the laboratories for COVID-19 testing.

Once the COVID-19 names have been compiled, we will commence work on reviewing existing pathology tests (in particular FOBT, cervical screening and mammograms). This will provide benefits for all existing and future pathology reports.
CAT4 Compatibility Update

As new versions are released CAT4 will be validated and, if required, updated to maintain compatibility.
