Friends and Members,

First and foremost, we would like to wish all of our members Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas! In this edition of the PR Corner, we will be highlighting the GA PestVets committee who have hit the ground running since its formation. Along with this, you will have the opportunity to nominate someone for PestVet of the Year!

Thank you for your continued hard work, involvement and advocacy for our industry.

Who Are The GA PestVets?

Formation of GA PestVets

The GA PestVets – 3/16 Veteran Support Group (3/16-VSG) was established this year in 2020. It falls under the National Pest Management Association’s (NPMA) PestVet umbrella. NPMA has ambitions to establish veteran committees at the state levels to amplify their efforts and reach.

GA PestVets Namesake & Mission

GA PestVets is the first of its kind. The namesake of the 3/16-VSG is a tip of the hat to the Georgia Pest Control Association’s (GPCA) legacy. Connie Rogers is the third to serve as Executive Director for GPCA, hence the “3”. She is also a founding committee member of the 3/16-VSG. The “16” honors the 16 original members when GPCA was incorporated in 1950.

As a Veteran Support Group, our mission is to make Pest Management an industry of choice for veterans in Georgia. We want to be recognized as the best industry for veterans to work in and as an industry that supports and contributes to veterans.

GA PestVets Coat Drive

On December 6th, the GA PestVets donated over 1,000 coats to the Cherokee County Homeless Veterans Program. In partnership with "Coalition of One", a coalition of veteran service organizations, these coats will be distributed to all corners of the state of Georgia. Thank you to everyone who donated and participated in this great program!

Nominations Deadline Extended!

GA PestVets Veteran of the Year Award

The Georgia PestVets Veteran of the Year Award was created to honor a veteran who has helped strengthen the role of pest management. They are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the industry and to the communities they serve.

Nominations are due December 31st, 2020.

GPCA Administrative Professional of the Year Award

This prestigious award will be presented to the administrative professional that best demonstrates the qualities listed below. Individuals may be nominated by their colleagues, managers, or self-nominated for their outstanding service, superior performance, exceptional efficiency, integrity and dedication to their fellow employees and their companies. Nominees may be nominated by more than one person.

Nominations are due December 31st, 2020.

Community Involvement & Support

The Georgia Pest Control Association has encouraged a spirit of community involvement and partnered with many great charities throughout its 70-year history. The Hands United Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation that was created by the 2017 GPCA Leadership class with a goal of extending their reach of support across generations. The foundation was created to relieve hardship among those in the pest management industry. Contributions are tax deductible and directly benefit members of the GPCA, CPCO and Georgia Pest Control Industry families during life changing events.
