LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT |
Hello Partners,
WOW, spring has exploded with activity! So much to do and getting BACK to normalcy! April specifically was a very busy month for your Chamber! Starting off by getting back to our annual
Easter Parade and Hunt on Easter Sunday! Crowds were huge and our Easter helpers along with EB gave out over 300 pieces of ‘Carrot Patch Pete’! Weather was cold and very windy, but at least dry and sunny! From that full weekend the Chamber celebrated their 13th annual Health & Wellness Fest. Held at our Chamber Partner’s catering facility, the Meadow Club April 23rd. Well attended with 43 independent vendors and 70 tables!
We recognized our Chamber member of the year, James Luciano, owner of the Port Jefferson Lobster House at the 22nd annual Brookhaven Chambers of Commerce Coalition Awards Reception, April 26th. James a Chamber Director and active and supportive member was well deserving of such an honor. That same week was the Blooms & Bites dessert and beverage crawl. Celebrating with the bloom of 5,000 daffodils bulbs we planted in the fall, we had 15 participating PJ Village restaurants who gave tasting to include: mini-chocolate martinis, mini-cannoli, milkshakes and cheesecake!
Preparing for the spring season and welcoming visitors, we had our ramp painted and repaired, thank you Chris Dexter for a job well done! Thanks also to the Village for replacing the trim around the Chamber windows which were in much needed repair. In addition we are looking at another PSEG grant for beautification with plans to re-landscape the front of our historic building and purchasing a more attractive bench for outside hospitality.
In the works is our new event, ‘Sounds on the Sound’ scheduled for June 14th. Featuring the Movin’ Out Band-the original Billy Joel band from the Broadway show. With the generosity of the PJ Ferry, the boat leaves the docks at 7pm and cruises LI Sound. Tickets available on Eventbrite NOW, VIP for $125 and GA for $75. We are preparing for our 2 large networking events one in July the other in August and our Dragon Boat Race Festival is set for September 17th!

We welcome a NEW retail store, ‘Tabu Shoes’ at 20 Chandler Square. Owner Kristen Hoffman also owns Earing Tabu on East Main Street. Congratulations and best wishes for much success!
Look for a NEW doggie day care business in upper Port in the old ABI Auto store, next to Tara’s! Also a new Halal- Middle Eastern cuisine restaurant/take-out business on the west side of Main Street in upper Port. ‘Conifer II’ will be moving forward with their second building for affordable housing, right next to the current construction of their first building! So Upper Port is getting some great attention with some beautification efforts and potential access to play pickle ball at the Texaco Park!
