Construction is well underway at the site of the new Golden Plough Lodge (GPL) & Northumberland County Archives and Museum (NCAM) facility on Courthouse Road in Cobourg.
While progress remains mostly hidden from above-ground view during the current stage of construction, lots of action is happening underground to prepare for the build.
The current phase of construction focuses on structural earthwork, the formation and pouring of foundations and underground site service connections including the installation of sanitary sewers, stormwater sewers, conduits and watermains.
As site service work continues over the next several months, there may be closures of Courthouse Road to accommodate construction activities. For road closure notices and updates, consider subscribing to email alerts on our website at
Northumberland.ca/News.
In addition, our project team continues to collaborate with the Town of Cobourg to obtain the necessary permits and documentation for construction. As part of this collaboration, our project team is working with Cobourg Transit to design a new bus turnaround for the transit station located at the top of Courthouse Road. Our team will continue to consult stakeholders throughout this process, and will inform of any potential impacts on road or transit users.
We look forward to sharing further progress as we continue construction on the site into 2022, in preparation for the opening of the new facility in fall 2022.
