A Note from the Admin Office

We are excited to report that the Library Director Search Committee of the Board of Library Trustees has begun the interviewing process for a new library director. In the meantime, staff members from the Grafton Public Library and the Town of Grafton are working in cooperation to keep things running smoothly and provide the same level of service to patrons.

Library staff have welcomed the new Head of Borrower Services, Mary Murtland, to the team. Mary is a former library director for the Town of Ashby and recently completed a Master of Library Information and Science (MLIS) at the University of Rhode Island. Please stop in to say hello!

The library has also welcomed three new temporary employees, Ramona B, Bridget O, and Meghan S, to our team. The temporary employees help to fill gaps in desk coverage in the event that a regular staff member is ill, out on leave, or when other scheduling issues arise. If you see a new face at the desk, please say hello!

In addition to new team members, patrons will be seeing new faces for our catalog and calendaring systems:

  • As of Tuesday, February 27th, the library is transitioning to a new, more user-friendly platform to reserve museum passes, book study rooms, and register for events. The new calendaring program, Libcal, will replace the current Eventkeeper system. Video tutorials will be available on our website, and patrons are encouraged to contact the library if they need help with the new reservation system.
  • On March 4th, the CW Mars library network is rolling out a new public catalog interface, Aspen. The updated catalog will come with a host of new features and functionality, including the ability to view and check out digital material from Libby, along with physical material, right from the catalog!

Holiday & Operating Hours

The library will be closed on Thursday, March 7 for Professional Development.

The Grafton Board of Library Trustees voted in favor of a two month extension of the reduced "Winter Hours" through the end of April:

Monday - Thursday: 10 AM - 8 PM

Friday & Saturday: 10 AM - 3 PM

Building Update

New carpet has been installed in the Community Room. The temporary Children’s Room will soon be able to move out of the Friends Corner and will occupy the Community Room until the official Children’s Room is ready (no definitive timeline for completion yet).

Many thanks to our patrons and visitors for their continued patience as the Children’s Room and Community Room remain closed and the Friends Corner is temporarily suspended.

Memoir Spotlight

Educated: A Memoir

By Tara Westover

Traces the author's experiences as a child born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, describing her participation in her family's paranoid stockpiling activities and her resolve to educate herself well enough to earn an acceptance into a prestigious university and the unfamiliar world beyond.

Request a book, a large-print book, a CD Audiobook, an e-book or an e-audio on the Libby app (available on Android, iPhone, tablets and desktops). Stop by the library to take a Libby brochure home or ask a staff member for assistance.
