Construction Update

Over the last month, CTA has been directing soil excavation, removal of contaminated soils to various landfills, and dewatering. We have a safety plan in place and are working fast to leave the project in a safe state to shut down, and are scheduled to stop work by May 12.

For project updates, including construction schedules, meeting minutes, and MBLC reports, please visit www.graftonlibrary.org/thetimeisnow.

VIRTUAL PROGRAMS
Have you checked out our Library Facebook page or Event Calendar lately? Our amazing, creative and resilient staff is offering online book discussion via Slack (thanks to staff member Heidi Fowler) recordings of storytime (thanks to staff members Sarah Banister and Jennifer McNeil), Dungeons and Dragons online (thanks to staff member Allison Cusher), live ukulele singalongs, Mr. Kim, and DIY "Bored" games for home. Please play along, contribute, and share!

The MA Board of Library Commissioners, in partnership with Burbio, has put together a statewide calendar of virtual library programs - feel free to check out what other libraries are doing as well.

We are launching a web series of readalouds of public domain works! Subscribe on our YouTube channel or watch the first one at https://youtu.be/jFk6hNnsLeQ. Thanks to staff member Beth Patch.

We have also launched a set of Reader's Advisory tools! Subscribe on our YouTube channel or watch the latest one and discover what to read next if you are a Colin Dexter fan at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Sbp27lVJP0. Thanks to staff member Allie Picone.

Don't forget -- April 30 is Poem in your Pocket day! Share your choice with us online.

Check our website for a list of resources for students and for self-quarantined adults.

ONLINE REFERENCE & READER'S ADVISORY
Need help? Call 508-839-4649 and leave a voicemail message, send an email to  graftonlibrary.ma@gmail.com  or send a message through our Facebook page at  https://www.facebook.com/pg/GraftonPublicLibraryMA  and a staff member will respond. We answered 80 reference questions in March and over 100 to date in April!

A reminder: Library staff remain available to assist with expired or blocked cards and digital resources. We can even schedule a meeting via Zoom for a lesson in downloading eBooks. Whether you want a recommendation for what to read next, or need reference, research, homework, or information and referral assistance, we are here to help. We continue to check our phone and email/FB messages daily, including over the weekend.

Miss us? We miss you! Join in the general discussion on Slack, or reach out via email to schedule a time to meet one-on-one for a virtual visit.

The Grafton Public Library continues to function as a digital branch! For a complete list of resources, please visit  http://www.graftonlibrary.org/digital .

We are purchasing more eBooks/eAudio - please sign up for the WowBrary newsletter for weekly delivery of a list of new digital items. It's really easy to place a hold on these new additions to our digital catalog.

GET A LIBRARY CARD
NEW: If you don't have a card, or know someone who needs them, please complete a digital card application and we will issue a card number so you can access OverDrive and all the Grafton Library databases available. When the Library reopens, proof of residency (or proof that you live, work, go to school or own property in Grafton) will be required to get the physical card and check out physical items (books, movies and more).

LIBRARY MATERIALS
The bookdrop is still closed. Please keep all library items at home - the due dates are extended, renewals are automatic, and no fines will be charged while we are closed to the public.

DONATIONS
We are not accepting book donations at this time and will not be accepting donations until the new building opens.

Stay home, stay safe, wash hands, and we look forward to seeing you all in person soon!
