GRAD CLAS NOTES
October 2023
A Distinctive Graduate Experience

On October 17 we hosted a lively in-person Open House and Reception for prospective graduate students. It was heartening to see a full Villanova Room as our guests engaged in meaningful conversations with our faculty and current students. To those who volunteered to offer your time that evening, please know that you have my deepest appreciation for your invaluable contribution to the event's success!

In my opening remarks at Open House, I spoke briefly about some of the ways in which our College offers a distinctive graduate experience:

  • Our students receive personalized attention and mentorship from leading scholars and professionals. Our faculty are experts in their fields who care about students and their success.
  • Ours is a collaborative community committed to making a difference in the world. Our shared Augustinian values fuel our passion to do good together as we learn from one another.
  • We celebrate cultural and intellectual diversity. Our global classrooms join perspectives from around the world with interdisciplinary inquiries that prepare students to meet the challenges we face today and tomorrow.
  • Our graduate education is affordable, and we offer competitive funding support. This important investment more than pays for itself. In addition, we pride ourselves on offering research and conference travel support, as well as a multitude of professional development opportunities.

I hope that you have found these principles to match your lived experience here at Villanova. They are promises we commit to fulfilling each day.

Our Fall Graduate Research Symposium, which takes place this Friday afternoon, October 27, exemplifies these attributes enumerated above and is a highlight of our academic year. I hope you are able to join us in person or watch the livestream to see our distinctive, collaborative, diverse and world-changing graduate educational experience in action.
