Grand Opening

The Club held its official Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, September 17, 2021 – celebrating the completion of its “Building Great Futures” expansion and renovation project. The Club broke ground on this project in 2019, and despite construction and fundraising delays due to the pandemic, opened its 42,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility to children on September 13th.

The Club expects to serve well over 1200 children between the ages of 5 and 18 this year, offering them afterschool homework help; College Prep; cultural outings; opportunities for community service; and programs in media and technology, the fine, performing and culinary arts, and sports and athletics.

Several elected officials were present for the ceremonies and celebration, offering citations and commendations:
·      NYS Senator James Gaughran
·      Nassau County Legislator Josh Lafazan, Town of Oyster Bay
·      Town of Oyster Bay Councilwoman Michelle Johnson
·      Bayville Mayor Robert Natale
·      Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino

A New School Year... A New Fresh Start!
On September 13, we were thrilled to welcome so many kids back to the Club. "It feels like a brand new Club," said some of the members as they walked through the doors. Our new Afterschool Elementary Enrichment Program will provide our younger members with a safe and structured environment to complete their homework assignments, eat a nutritious snack, enjoy some downtime play with their friends on the playground and our outdoor space, and participate in a variety of high-quality programs focusing on nutrition, science, theatre, coding, fitness, art, and social skill development.
For our tweens and teens, they will enjoy their own dedicated spaces designed specifically with their interests in mind including their own lounge area equipped with gaming stations and seating to encourage conversation, as well as an art studio and media design lab to explore their creative sides. Our teen program would not be complete with our impactful programs that help our oldest members navigate their middle and high school years including College Prep, SMART Girls, and our leadership clubs - Torch and Keystone. We look forward to offering more programs and activities to the greater community in the coming months!
Does your child attend our Afterschool Program but you haven't been inside the new facility yet? Join us through a guided tour of the Club during our Open House on Tuesday, October 19 at 6:00 p.m.
"Dreams Do Come True!"
Thank you to all those who supported the 2021 Gala.
Your commitment to Grenville Baker will have a lasting
impact on our children and the programs we offer.

The Gala was held on September 18 and is the Club's most important fundraiser of the year, generating the critical resources we need to sustain and grow our programming in academic support, STEM, the performing and fine arts, athletics, College Prep and so much more!
