The space is gorgeous, and so is the courtyard behind. It just begs for a party, and we're not one to disappoint a beautiful space. so we're going to have one. There will be a wine-tasting, delicious food and some treats from our neighbor the Artist Baker, and prizes! Yes, prizes! Best of all - Laura Nelkin will be there to sign her beautiful new book Knockout Knits.

2 Workshops with Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton
We are so lucky to have the legendary Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton teaching 2 workshops for us (and when I say us, I mean I will be in the classes, too!)
$60 ea or $110 for both (plus $25 for materials for each class)

10am-1pm - WINDFALL - 5 TECHNIQUES
Surface Weaving - this bold technique will add dimension and interest to any stockinette stitch background, and can be worked in many different variations. Great for borders on any garment or as an allover pattern.
Yarnovers with Twisted Ribbing - This almost lacy stitch pattern will render almost any weight yarn wearable by adding flexibility and lightness to the fabric.
Working with 2 Different Weights in the Same Stitch Pattern- Learn how to combine 2 very different weights of yarn to create an interesting allover pattern. Great in a hat, vest, cardigan or even an afghan.
A Lace Stitch- This versatile lacy stitch pattern is the modifiend version of the old Honeycomb stitch. It's fun to knit and great in scarves, shawls, women's and children's wear.
Striped Hole Pattern - A decorative stitch pattern creates open spaces and stripes. Lined up or placed randomly, the holes and stripes will brighten any design worked in a stockinette stitch background.

2pm - 5pm
ALCOTT IPAD or LAPTOP COVER

Sometimes a stitch pattern and yarn type just seem to be made for a specific project. That is how I felt when I designed my first laptop
cover using the handspun yarns from Ozark Mountain.
You will have receive two different patterns, one for a laptop cover and one for an Ipad cover, gathers all materials, swatch my Surface Weaving technique and then start your project! Don't miss this great chance to stop outside your comfort and develop your creativity!

Knitcircus and Algiers
our yarn and pattern of the month

our yarn and pattern of the month
Knitcircus is our yarn of the month again this month because it sold out so quickly last month that most of you didn't even get to see it. I put in a new order a week after that first order came in, and in the meantime they gave me first crack on an order that someone else had placed and not taken, so I jumped at it and now I have 20 cakes of 150g/560yd corriedale goodness right here on my table.

I wasn't able to participate in Kirsten Kapur's Mystery Shawl KAL this year, but one of my customers brought it in and I think it would be just perfect for these gorgeous cakes. Kirsten agrees! The KAL is over, but we can start our own if you'd like; but it won't be much of a mystery anymore - it's now got a name and some photos: Algiers. Buy the yarn, and the pattern is a gift from Trillium Yarns.
