ParentVue Verification was due yesterday.  Did you complete the ParentVUE Verification Process?  If not, please take a few minutes to complete it now. Log into  ParentVUE , click on Online Verification in the upper righthand corner, and follow the instructions on the screen.  While you can access ParentVUE on your mobile device, verification is not available in the app and works best when done on a computer. This process must be completed in order for your child to be placed on a class list and/or bus route for 2019-2020 and for your Smart Tuition account to be set up correctly.

Band Concert This Week: Join us on Wednesday, May 22 for a band concert. We will performing many numbers we have been working on over the semester. The concert will begin at 7:30pm at the DeVos Center for Arts and Worship.

Congratulations Mrs. VanderLaan!  Mrs. Denise VanderLaan, the middle school Inclusion Coordinator, will be retiring in June after 22 years of teaching. We would love to send her off into retirement by showering her with cards of encouragement and congratulations. Please send or bring your cards to the middle school office, 2036 Chesaning Dr SE, GR, MI 49506. Send your cards by Friday, May 31.

7th & 8th Graders Interested in Theater: The high school is planning an audition workshop. This workshop will be held on May 21, 3:15-4:15pm in Room 26 at the middle school. There is no registration, and it is free to all interested students. This will provide important information regarding the Stage Company and auditions for the 2019/2020 season.

Last Days of School:  The last day of school for eighth grade students is Wednesday, June 6.  Students must report to the DeVos Center for Arts and Worship (CAW) on the GRCHS campus promptly at 10:00am.  Eighth graders will be dismissed from the high school at 11:30am. There will be no mid-day bus service. Parents who pick up students should do so by the rock outside the auditorium, using the south parking lot. Parents who wish their child to walk home that day should provide a signed note.
The last day for fifth, sixth, and seventh grade students is Friday, June 7. Students will be dismissed at 12 noon. There is no GRPS busing; Christian School buses will operate as scheduled. The office will close at 12:30pm that day so that staff can participate in closing devotions and complete professional work.

Medications: Parents, if your student has medication(s), en epipen or an inhaler that was available for their use in the school office this year, please come to the office to claim these items. No medications shall remain in the building over the summer so we ask that you pick up these medications before the end of the school year or they will be disposed of properly. Parents or guardians, not students, must retrieve these medications from the office. If you have any concerns, please call the school office at 574-6300.

Homework Club Participants: The last day of homework club will be Thursday, June 6. Please try to have balances paid in full by that date. Final invoices will be sent in the U.S. mail soon.

Lost & Found: As we finish out the school year, be sure to check our overflowing lost and founds bins for anything your child may have misplaced. There are a lot of nice coats, sweatshirts, tennis shoes, athletic gear, lunch containers, and much more. We will be donating these items to New 2 You at the end of the school year.

Sports Physicals:  Current 8th graders planning to play sports at Grand Rapids Christian High School in 2019-20 school year need to have an MHSAA physical form on file with the high school athletic office before they are allowed to participate. A valid physical for 2019-20 must be completed anytime after April 15, 2019. You may turn in the completed physical to the GRCHS athletic office as soon as you finish it, even if it is before the end of this school year or during the summer. You may pick up a physical form at the GRCHS athletic office, or print out a physical form here.  This form must be completed with all signatures in order to participate in sports at GRCHS.  You may attach your doctor's office physical form for the doctor portion of this form but the parent portion and signatures need to be completed on this form.

Please Plan Ahead:  GRPS busing will end on Friday, May 31. For those that use public school buses, please plan accordingly for the last few days of school. The last day of school is Friday, June 7.

From the Technology Department
6th and 7th Grade Laptop Turn-In:  During the last couple of weeks of the school year, students will be turning in their laptops for the summer to be evaluated for damage, cleaned, and updated. Students will need to make sure all files they want to save are moved to a separate storage device like a flash drive or uploaded to their Google Drive before turning in the laptop.

The 6th grade laptop turn-in date is Friday, May 31; 7th grade will turn in laptops on Wednesday, June 5.  On the day of turn-in, students will need to have their hard shell snap-on case (top and bottom), both parts of the charger, and their laptop.  If the charger is lost or has been broken, the replacement cost is $75. Laptop damages for those who did not purchase the accidental damage insurance this year will be documented. Charges won't occur until the end of 8th grade or when the student leaves GRCS.

8th Grade Laptop Purchase:  On May 1, students received an email from Mrs. VanderWoude about the option to purchase their school-issued laptop at the end of this school year.  Those students attending GRCHS in 9th grade will be issued a new school device. Here is a link to the contents of the email sent to 8th graders with more details.

8th Grade Laptop Turn-In:  Laptop turn in for 8th grade will be Tuesday, May 28. Students will be turning in their laptop, charger, and the hard shell snap-on case. Students are charged for missing pieces. The replacement cost for a lost or damaged charger is $75.

The Learning Commons team will be assessing each laptop for damage, and will notify parents of any charges if the accidental damage option was not purchased in August. The most common damage is corner damage. We share the cost for this. Your cost is $75 for damage to one corner and $25 for each additional corner.  If any damage occurred over the years the laptop was issued to your child, parents will receive an email from Mr. Haaksma with the amount due after the laptop has been assessed for damage. If you have questions please feel free to call Jon Haaksma (616) 574-6353.

Technology Equipment Sales:  Our yearly  technology sale  will be held at GRCHS in the All City Gym entry off Plymouth Ave. on June 6 from 12:00 - 4:00, and June 7 from 7:30 - 1:00. All devices are sold as is with no support.
