Gold Rush Elementary School

Students are using robot Dash in the STEAM lab to explore several math concepts. Students are currently being challenged to create a shape with a certain perimeter. They then need to program robot Dash to travel the perimeter. It is important to note that Dash only travels in incriments of 10.
These tasks, which increase in complexity from first through fifth grade, incorporate math vocabulary, multiples and perimeter. They also teach students how to collaborate, apply math concepts and problem solve. As you can see in the video above, students feel a great sense of accomplishment when they work together and successfully complete these challenges!
The artwork shown above is from our after school canvas art club led by Ms. Dazzio. Students enjoyed painting scenes from outer space. Additional student work is currently displayed in our library. We hope you will view their work next time you are visiting Gold Rush!
