Gold Rush Elementary School
November 8, 2019
We were excited to celebrate Veterans and those currently serving in the military during an all school assembly Friday. Students recognized service members and their families through songs and words. We were all impressed with the men and womens’ years of service. We also enjoyed seeing them in their military uniforms. We appreciate our Veterans and their dedication to our country.
Gold Rush strives to create compassionate leaders who better our school and the community. There are many ways that we encourage students to lead and make a difference. Each day, for example, we celebrate positive behaviors through our Go for the G.O.L.D. incentive system. We honor those who G ive respect, O wn their actions, L isten and learn and D o their best.

We also have several clubs that are devoted to improving our school, such as Student Council and Young Rotarians. Please see two initiatives that these clubs are currently facilitating that support our community.

Young Rotarians Create Kits for Kids

Gold Rush has the first Young Rotarians Club for the elementary students in the world! Our club is being featured in the Rotarian magazine this spring. We are excited to share the article with you when it is published.

Gold Rush's young rotarians are charged with facilitating one local and one international service learning project. This year our students are partnering with Kits for Kids. Kits for Kids is an organization that provides basic medical supplies to families that do not have access to them. We are asking families to help our efforts by donating any of the basic supplies noted on the flyer below. Please know that we are only accepting items off this list.

In addition to collecting supplies, our Young Rotarians are organizing a crazy hair day on Friday, November 15. Students can bring in change for their crazy hair. All donations will be used to purchase additional items for each kit.

Student Council Hosts a Food Drive

Our student council is also driven to improve our school community. They are currently hosting a food drive to support the Parker Task Force. Please feel free to donate any non perishable items or canned foods between now and Thanksgiving break.

Student Council is also organizing a pj day for students on Friday, November 22. Again students can bring in any amount of change and wear their pjs. All proceeds will go to Denver Rescue Mission's Turkey Drive. Please see the weekly electronic Thursday Folder for additional information.
In preparation for next year, we are asking that you complete the P re-registration Survey  to let us know if your child will be returning to Gold Rush next year. If you have not done so already, please complete this survey by Friday, November 15th.
