2019 Running Club
One of the most exciting things in elementary school is engaging students in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Elementary age children are still discovering their interests and passions and extracurriculars expose them to new opportunities and topics. Students take risks, lead, contribute to the community and make new friends through these experiences.

Gold Rush is proud to offer a variety of before and after school activities that foster academic, physical, creative and social development. Many of these activities are offered in the fall and several are forming now. Please see some of our fall offerings below. Additional details can be found in the Thursday folder:

Gold Rush's Battle of the Books team, Spanish Club, Chess Club and Math Olympiad challenge students to read, problem solve and learn a new language.

Running Club allows students to have fun while being physical.

Art club allows students to engage in a variety of creative projects.

Student Council, garden club and Young Rotarians are opportunities for students to demonstrate leadership at the school and community level. These organizations are dedicated to improving the environment around them.

As a school community we strive to foster growth by challenging critical thinkers to take risks, honor differences and care for others. As you can see from our mission statement, we are committed to supporting students' social and emotional growth as well as their intellectual development.

One way we teach students to care for others is by talking about what it looks like and sounds like to Go for the G.O.L.D. Our positive behavior system teaches students what it means to Give respect, Own your actions, Listen and Learn and Do your best. Students who demonstrate these behaviors throughout the week are recognized with golden tickets. Every Friday students who win the class drawing are announced as the golden ticket winner and they win the favored elevator pass for the day. The classrooms with the highest amount of golden tickets are also awarded our stuffed animal mascot Digger for the week. We believe that discussing and celebrating these positive behaviors helps students develop character and empathy.
Runners are you ready? September 27th marks our 10th annual school wide fun run called the Digger Dash. Students are running to raise money for Lucy Calkins' Classroom Libraries for all grade levels. Getting a ‘just right’ book for a student to read in a topic of interest is really important to developing young readers. Please see the race day schedule below.
