GROWING AND THRIVING
Three years ago our therapy department began seeing two young boys and their mother, who had a long family history of complex sexual abuse. When the boys began therapy, Joshua, the younger brother had not disclosed of any abuse and his older brother Max was open about the abuse he had endured. As time went on, their mother became distant, less involved, her rights were eventually terminated, and the boys spent some time in foster care.
After many months with their counselors, the boys both grew to be open and confident. Max began to advocate for his brother and himself in family court and Joshua ended up disclosing about abuse he had endured as well. The boy’s counselors are both so proud of the growth they have seen from the boys and were delighted to share that they have been recently adopted into a loving home where they are both happy and thriving.
