"There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self."
~Ernest Hemingway
Yep, I'm going to follow a Hemingway quote with one of my own...
"Get over yourself, Kristi."
That's what I have to tell myself every once in awhile when I get so caught up in my own world... my own opinions... my own perceptions on HOW THINGS ARE... or its more bossy sibling, HOW THINGS
SHOULD BE.
I'll let you in on a secret.... I'm not always right! I know, shocker, huh!? (and, I'm sure that everyone in my family will be glad to hear me admit that)
BUT.... YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW!
Our lives are a constant learning process. We grow, we change, and we shed false beliefs (which in the moment ARE our truth). We adapt to new ways of thinking, new ways of seeing, and new ways to interact in the world. All of which is a good thing... especially when we are aware of and appreciate that continual process.
One of the things that struck me about the Fearless Warrior Yoga Conference last weekend, was the fact that I was there. As I mentioned to a few people with whom I spoke that day, I was not in a place that I could attend the event a year ago. But through and because of that experience, I now realize that both my mind and heart are more open than they were then and I'm so grateful for that.
One more of my favorite quotes to round out this post...
"Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change." ~Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
Here's to continued new perspectives... and personal and collective growth!
Namaste,
Kristi
