NYSAR submits testimony during hearing on state’s housing needs

NYSAR 2023 President John Vernazza submitted written testimony last month before the State Assembly’s public hearing on “Assessing Housing Needs Across New York State.” The testimony reiterated NYSAR’s support for targeted state funding to grow the state’s housing stock, preserving local control over housing development, creating state tax incentives for commercial to residential conversions, streamlining local permitting and approval processes for new construction, incentivizing the development of ADUs and the legalization of basement apartments, and the establishment of a comprehensive statewide housing plan including the creation of a first-time homebuyer savings account program and statewide housing access voucher program. The leadership team of the Women's Council of REALTORS® Greater Syracuse will also be installed.


The Cocktail Hour will begin at 5 p.m. with a cash bar and appetizers. Dinner is a "duet plate" with steak and shrimp, salad, fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Vegetarian plates may be requested via email


Black Tie Entertainment will be keeping the music going. Seating is limited for this special event and no walk-ins will be permitted. The cost is $55 for members ($65 for non-members). CenterState CEO plans economic forecast event in January

CenterState CEO will host its annual Economic Forecast Breakfast at the OnCenter on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 8 a.m. The event will include a U.S. capital markets forecast as well as a regional economic outlook presentation by CenterState CEO President Rob Simpson. Register here.

2024 dues deadline expires; pay by Jan. 31 to avoid loss of MLS service

The 2024 dues payment deadline was Dec. 31. A late charge of $15 has been applied today (Jan. 2) for any member account that was not paid by the deadline. GSAR members can find their bill for GSAR, NYSAR and NAR annual dues in the member portal. If payment, including the late fee, is not made on or before Jan. 31, MLS service will be interrupted on Feb. 1. A $75 reactivation fee will also be charged on Feb. 1. Companies will be shut off on Feb. 12. No fees will be waived. If you did not receive your dues notice, please contact the GSAR office.

MLS subscribers must sign annual agreement

The New York State Alliance of MLSs (NYSAMLS), a regional joint venture of the Multiple Listing Services in Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse, requires each MLS subscriber to sign the MLS Subscriber Agreement annually. This will take place as you log into Matrix beginning on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.


Please note that there are no changes to the existing subscriber agreement. If you would like to read the content ahead of time, you may do so here.


On January 16, you will need to accept the Subscriber Agreement by typing in your name exactly as shown on the screen presented as you log into the portal, to continue using MLS services. In this example, you would type in Steve Mapes exactly as shown and then click on I Agree.
