WHAT IS TIER-ONE INSTRUCTION?

This year, the GSCS's main objective is to ensure that students receive tier-one instruction in every classroom every day.

What is tier-one instruction? The curriculum-based grade level instruction that a child should learn in their grade. (ex. A fourth grader should do fourth-grade reading and math every day). If students need to catch up on a subject, they are behind in or if a student is ready to advance beyond their current grade level that is considered tier two or tier three instruction. These should also be happening as needed to support students but they should also receive tier-one grade-level instruction daily.
