SACRAMENTO, CA – June 6, 2018
– Golden State Finance Authority (GSFA) announced today that it is providing $254,854 to Mendocino County residents displaced from their primary home by recent fires in Mendocino County State and Federally declared disaster areas.
Mendocino County and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) estimate that over 387 residences were damaged or destroyed in Mendocino County in 2017. The disaster assistance funds, administered to the County for dispersing, are allocated for direct financial assistance for temporary housing and/or shelter for individuals and families within Mendocino County whose ability to obtain, maintain, or restore housing has been impaired by the fires.
“I am grateful for the partners that have stepped up to assist local fire victims in our County,” said Carre Brown, Mendocino County Supervisor and member of the GSFA Board of Directors. “Thanks to the corporate generosity of folks like GSFA, our constituents are able to rebuild their homes and their lives in a more timely manner following the recent fire disaster.”
Over the past two years, GSFA has provided over $1.5 million in emergency disaster assistance to address the impact of forest fires on California residents.
