December 2023
Dear Good Shepherd,
Luke 2:10 The angel said to them, “Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people; for there is born to you this day a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Martin Luther, in his sermon for Christmas Day in 1521, points out that the angel doesn’t just tell the shepherds that Christ is born, but to you he is born. The angel doesn’t just bring glad tidings of great joy, but announced that to you I bring tidings of great joy.
You. That’s you and me. All of us. Everyone. The birth of Christ didn’t just happen in another part of the world, at a time so very long ago, for a people who are no longer with us. Instead, the angel tells us that we are part of the Christmas story. Unto us a child is born; unto us a son is given. A story filled with good news and great joy for us!
Join us as we worship at Good Shepherd on Christmas Eve at 4pm, 7pm and 9pm then again on Christmas morning at 10am. We’ll sing favorite hymns, hear beautiful special music, read familiar scriptures, light candles, and most importantly, we will become part of the story. The story of God. The story of us.
Christmas blessings,
Pastor Karen
