Hello Good Shepherd Families,
We wanted to thank everyone for coming to our Virtual Back To School Night(s) last week. We will always remember the start of this year for sure. The preschool teachers in particular enjoyed seeing the children’s faces on some of your screens - it made it more cozy and personal for them. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding about the technical issues with the waiting room and hopping between Zooms. We hope that it gave you an opportunity to hear about your child’s day and their teacher’s plans for the year. We always appreciate feedback, so if there is any way we can improve it for the future, please let us know.
We also want to thank parents who were able to make it to our first Coffee with the Directors this morning. We wanted this to be a chance to ask questions and clarify any issues. There was a general feeling of appreciation for our teachers with all of the hard work going into distance learning. They found it organized and thorough overall. We recognize that that distance learning is labor intensive for parents - especially for ones with younger students. Our goal is to help support you in any ways we can. We appreciated the suggestions we heard this morning and will be bringing them to our teachers. Our next Coffee with the Directors will be on Tuesday, September 22 at 5:30pm. (It is on the website calendar and we will send an email reminder closer to the date.)
One of our goals as directors is to bring our community together. With this in mind, we would like to hold our first “Friday Funday” event on Zoom this Friday, September 11 at 3:00pm. This will be for K-5 students only. We will be playing Bingo and will send more details in a separate email tomorrow. We wanted to get this on your calendar in case your child is interested in playing Bingo with a group of us on Zoom. This is optional of course. Middle School fun time will be scheduled for next week with details at our Hawk Central Showbie site.
For Middle School, if you would like to learn more about Showbie and how the students navigate the app, Laura Fitzpatrick will be holding a Zoom tutorial on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. See our website calendar for the zoom code (posted tomorrow and reminder email with details on Thursday).
We hope that everyone is doing well, staying safe, and washing hands!
