GSSCC Announces: New Small Business Peer Network

GSSCC is excited to announce a new resource for small businesses: Small Business Peer Network.
The Small Business Peer Network is designed to provide small business owners with an opportunity to connect and learn from each other. We aim to create an environment where business owners ask questions and share best practices on issues they are struggling with.
Peer network members will meet monthly for discussions in the Chamber offices. While education will be a strong component of this group, speakers, and presentations will be limited in order to focus on discussion around individual business challenges. This is not intended to be a sales environment, so team leaders will facilitate the discussions to ensure a balanced and respectful conversation.
Interested in joining this new peer group?  Because this network is designed specifically for small business owners, we are asking interested members to fill out this short application . Our Small Business Peer Network steering committee will review all applications. Once approved, applicants will be given a link to register for monthly meetings.

Transportation News
Purple Line Provides Update to County Council

Purple Line Transit Partners CEO Fred Craig and Charles Latucca, Executive Director, Transit Development and Delivery at MDOT MTA (Purple Line Project), recently briefed members of the Montgomery County Council's Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy & Environment Committee on the status of construction activity.

Among the highlights:  Passenger service is still targeted to begin in late 2022. Project design is about 85% complete; construction is 10% complete. Work around the Silver Spring Transit Center is scheduled to begin soon. Despite what has been reported in the news, construction crews are doing their best to stay on schedule, accelerating construction where safely possible, and working on various sections simultaneously instead of sequentially.

Here's a link  to the full committee presentation and discussion.

WSSC Water Main Project Coming Back to Colesville/Georgia

WSSC crews expect to begin "test pitting" this week to locate all utilities under Colesville Road between Georgia Avenue and Fenton Street. Work to complete the water main replacement in this section is expected to begin later this month.

Readers will recall that WSSC has been working on this project from Spring Street north to the Beltway.  Crews originally planned to begin at Georgia Avenue and work their way north, but decided to move the starting point to Spring Street when Pepco crews were still working in that area of Colesville.

GSSCC will keep members informed as more details are available.
