* Dr. Roscoe M. Moore, Jr.,  PH RockWood Corporation , has been selected to join the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.  This honor follows Dr. Moore's recent appointment to the Board of Directors of the Global Virus Network, a coalition of leading virologists spanning more than 20 countries working to advance knowledge about how viruses make people sick and to develop drugs and vaccines to prevent illness and death. Both organizations were founded by Dr. Robert (Bob) Gallo, the co-discoverer of the AIDS virus.

Business Input Sought Through Survey

As the next step in gathering information to evaluate Montgomery County's business climate, County Executive Marc Elrich is seeking input via an online survey.  The 55-question survey includes questions to assess  general background about businesses; feedback on the business environment in the County; experience with the County procurement requirements; and ease of access to government. Click here to complete the survey before September 30.

Construction Updates for Silver Spring

Silver Spring Area  - Beginning this week, and for the next four weeks, crews will be on Bonifant Street between Georgia Avenue and Fenton Steet to relocate utilities.  Long-term construction and lane closures continue on  Colesville Road between 2nd Avenue and East-West Highway,  along Bonifant Street between the Silver Spring Transit Center and Fenton Street,and along Wayne Avenue between Fenton Street and Flower Avenue between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays and some weekends. 

During the remainder of August, crews will also be working on Silver Spring Metro Plaza, adjacent to Colesville Road weekdays and weekends between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Lyttonsville/Brookville Area During August, crews continue work to relocate utilities along Stewart Avenue between Brookville Road and Kansas Avenue. Temporary lane and sidewalk closures with flagging operations will occur. Parking on southbound Stewart Avenue will be limited.  All work will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays and weekends.
