LAST CALL-2019 Award Nominations

At its annual Awards & Installation Dinner, GSSCC will recognize some of the member individuals and organizations that personify how Chamber members are committed to supporting each other and the community. GSSCC is seeking nominations for its inaugural "Circle of Stars," those whose efforts, specifically through support of non-profit organizations or causes, have made Silver Spring and our community a better place to live, work, and run a business. The Chamber will also recognize the Young Professional who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and outstanding contribution to the chamber during the past year.

Tickets for AFI DOCS 2019 Now Available

GSSCC is, once again, pleased to be among the sponsors for AFI DOCS, described by The Washington Post as "the nation's leading documentary film festival." AFI DOCS returns this year with screenings at the historic AFI Silver Theatre as well as venues in Washington, D.C. from June 19 to June 23. Academy Award-winning documentarian Freida Lee Mock, whose film Ruth - Justice Ginsburg In Her Word will screen at the festival, will be this year's Guggenheim Symposium honoree. This year's program includes more than 70 films, as well as insightful panels, presentations and more. See the full lineup and buy tickets and festival passes at AFI.com/AFIDOCS.

T ree Clearing to Begin on Bonifant Street 

Beginning on or about Tuesday, May 28, and throughout the month of June, crews will be surveying, clearing trees, and relocating utilities along Bonifant Street between the Silver Spring Transit Center and Fenton Street. * Aspenwood Senior Living will host a health expo this Wednesday, May 29, in recognition of National Senior Health and Fitness Day.   Attendees can receive free blood pressure checks, free hearing screenings, watch a live healthy cooking demo by Aspenwood Chef Victor, and perhaps win a door prize.
