Informal networking begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by the introduction of our Police Officer honorees, then round table networking until 9:15 a.m . YPN Community Service Project

Join GSSCC's Young Professionals from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, at Interfaith Works Empowerment Center (8106 Georgia Avenue) to wrap and assemble non-denominational holiday gift boxes for its clients. Mark your Calendar for Business-After-Hours

Join fellow GSSCC members to ring in the holidays at a special Business-After-Hours from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13. Hosted by the Chamber Board, this event will be held in the lobby of the Lee Development Group Building (8601 Georgia Avenue) and feature complimentary appetizers, a cash bar, and networking in a festive atmosphere. 2017 Discover the Taste of Silver Spring called "Best Ever"

More than 250 GSSCC members and guests came out to network and enjoy "tastes" from 21 Chamber member restaurants, caterers, and food purveyors at the 2017 Discover the Taste of Silver Spring last week. GSSCC thanks everyone who contributed to make this event possible. Prior to the event, the GSSCC Board hosted former Chamber Chairs and Presidents at an unveiling of the new 25th Anniversary logo. Purple Line CEO Outlines Project Details for GSSCC Committee

Purple Line Transit Partners (PLTP) CEO Rob Chappelle met with the Chamber's Economic Development Committee last week to provide details on the project and what businesses can expect now that construction is starting in and around greater Silver Spring. Get Ready for Metro Shutdown in Late November, Early December

Service on Metro's Red Line will be disrupted later this month through early December as crews work to rebuild an interlocking system on the tracks between the Silver Spring  and Fort Totten stations. From November 25 through December 10, trains will not operate between Silver Spring and Fort Totten, and the Takoma station will be shut down. Free shuttle buses will be provided between the two stations. On the weekend of December 2 and December 3, the Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton, and Glenmont stations will be closed while crews install radio communications cables. Read more here.
MCDOT Schedules Open Houses on BRT

Montgomery County Department of Transportation will hold an open house tonight, November 20, at the Silver Spring Civic Building to provide details to the public on the Bus Rapid Transit system planned for Route 29/Colesville Road between Silver Spring and Burtonsville.  Click here for details about each meeting.
Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) is exploring a Youth Employment Summer (YES) program to provide summer employment for some 20 to 30 youth (grades 9 to 12) from HOC households. HOC is seeking businesses interested in participating in the program by providing jobs Mondays through Thursdays for four weeks during the summer. HOC will pay a stipend to each participating youth.
