GST/HST Holiday Tax Break

Dear Members,

The Government of Canada has announced a proposed measure to provide GST/HST relief on certain items beginning December 14, 2024, and ending February 15, 2025.

The Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) has released guidelines on the proposals and expected application subject to parliamentary approval here:

Vending is Exempt from the Tax Holiday

The CRA have listed "Types of items that qualify for the GST/HST holiday tax break" on their website.

Food or beverages sold from a vending machine do not qualify.

We are monitoring government communications and will relay any further updates on qualification for unattended retail.
