SPRING 2021
To Our Clients and Friends -
We continue to extend our best wishes for your safety and security. The arrival of Spring renews our optimism for the future. We hope you take time to enjoy the beauty of the season. This year has already been a momentous one for GSW. We are celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the founding of our firm, the retirement of Chris Gadsden, and several additions to the GSW family.
Founding Partner Christopher H. Gadsden Retires
It is with immense gratitude that we announce the well-deserved retirement of one of our founding partners, Christopher H. Gadsden. Chris, along with Pam Schneider and Steve Woodward, established Gadsden Schneider & Woodward, LLP (GSW) twenty years ago in February 2001. We celebrate the twentieth anniversary of GSW along with Chris’ new status as “of counsel” as of the beginning of the year.

Chris joined Philadelphia-based Drinker Biddle & Reath after graduating from Yale College and Yale Law School. Throughout his illustrious career, Chris’s practice focused on sophisticated estate planning for high net-worth individuals, as well as estate and trust administration and litigation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (“ACTEC”) and the past chair of the ACTEC Financial Action Task Force Committee, the past chair of the ACTEC Professional Responsibility Committee and a past chair of the Probate and Trust Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association. Chris served for four years as the co-chair of the National Conference of Lawyers and Corporate Fiduciaries, the primary liaison organization between the American Bar Association and the trust division of the American Bankers Association. For several years, Chris was an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Chris has published numerous articles on estate planning, trust and estate administration and professional responsibility obligations of trust and estate lawyers and has lectured frequently on these topics throughout the United States. Chris has been continually recognized as one of the nation’s top estate planning lawyers by inclusion in The Best Lawyers in AmericaWho’s Who in American Law and Super Lawyers.

While Chris will continue to consult on some client matters, he is now focusing his time on board memberships, charitable endeavors, and, of course, spending time with his family and traveling. Chris also plans to be active on the golf course and play squash and tennis with his friends.
