On October 4th the 2022 GTA AM Tour Virtual Net Match Play completed its seventh year with the Grand Finale and Championship Day at the highly respected Coppinwood Golf Club described by legendary Lorne Rubinstein “as a golfer’s haven”.
The 2022 VNMP began with 32 players. To qualify for the Championship Day our four semi-finalists had to advance through three preliminary rounds. Congratulations to Joseph Avila, Phil Bingham, Jeff Gatcke and Phong Tran for qualifying to compete in the 36-hole, one day, Grande Finale.
The four players were treated to a spectacular fall golf day with sunshine, blue skies and a golf course in PGA Tour quality conditioning. It was a full day of golf beginning with Coppinwood’s first class practice facilities. The Semi-final round matches in the morning, lunch and then the Final Round matches in the afternoon.
Out in the first Semi-Final was the match of Phil Bingham vs. Jeff Gatcke. The second Semi-Final featured Joseph Avila vs. Phong Tran. Joseph and Jeff both advanced to the Final Championship Match, with Phil and Phong meeting in the Consolation Match.
When the golf was done; Jeff Gatcke was celebrated as our 2022 VNMP Winner. To complete a great golf day was more food, drink, prizing, trophies, newly established bragging rights and promises for redemption next year.
For his win, Jeff earns a place on the GTA AM Tour's VNMP Annual Trophy, a $300 TaylorMade gift card, a gorgeous winner's trophy and bragging rights for the next year.
The VNMP Championship Series is designed to bring players of varying abilities (from the Ch, A, B, C and ONS Flights) together in a fun, fair and competitive match play format.
