In October, as we do every year, we held a players' summit to discuss ways to improve The Tour. Members of The Tour Team and eleven Tour players worked through an agenda addressing sixteen ways to improve the experience for everyone. Please find below some of the improvements for the 2018 Tour:
Updated Event Registration Process
To help improve access to events, when registering for events, players will be charged a per-event non-refundable deposit of $10 (Plus HST). The event reminder email will now be sent (to registered players) four weeks (28 days) prior to each event. Credit cards will be billed (for the balance of the event fee) three weeks (21 days) prior to each event. Out of respect for your fellow players, please only register for events in which you plan to compete.
Waiting List ===> Notify Me
There will no longer be a waiting list. When an event is full, players will be given an option to be notified if a spot opens up. When a spot opens up, at any given time, ALL players on the
Notify Me list will be sent an email. The spot(s) will be filled on a first to register basis.
Commitment to Educating the Community
After registering for the 2018 Tour, and before registering for events, players will be directed to an online evaluation that will educate them about Pace of Play, Course Care and Handicapping. Those achieving 100% on this evaluation will receive a draw ballot for a round of golf at Coppinwood Golf Club.
New Seniors' Format
Players competing in the Seniors' Flight will do so in a Net Stableford format. This point system will see players receiving one point for a net bogey, two points for a net par, three points for a net birdie, four points for a net eagle and five points for a net double eagle. The player with the highest points accumulation will win the event. Ties will be resolved as per The Tour's card matching protocol.
