RICHMOND HILL, ON, June 10, 2020 - The GTA AM Tour is excited and proud to announce a partnership with Tim Hortons Foundation Camps with the launch of The King Valley Classic in support of Tim Hortons Foundation Camps at King Valley Golf Club on Tuesday June 23. Tim Hortons Foundation Camps is a charitable, youth leadership development organization that supports kids from low income, disadvantaged circumstances between the ages of 12 to 16 during the most vulnerable time in their lives.

"For the past 45 summers, we have proudly served more than 295,000 youth from Tim Hortons communities with life-changing camp experiences," said Dave Newnham, President and Executive Director, Tim Hortons Foundation Camps. "The program is entirely supported by Tim Hortons Restaurant Owners, Guests, Corporate and Individual Donors, and invests in youth from every community Tim Hortons serves. We appreciate the platform that the GTA AM Tour is giving us during this summer's tour and for Tim Hortons Restaurant Owner, David Hoey, for spearheading this great initiative."

Youth from low-income homes are at risk of repeating the cycle of poverty. Because of their circumstances, they face additional obstacles and pressures in performing well at school, in building positive relationships, and in taking care of their mental health and emotional well-being. Through a multi-year, camp-based program, they learn skills like leadership, resilience , and responsibility, empowering them to believe in their own potential and change their stories for the better.

"The Tour is very much looking forward to working with David Hoey (Tim Hortons Franchisee, staunch supporter of Tim Hortons Foundation Camps and Tour player) and his Team, to share with the larger Tour Community the many programs the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps have which help at-risk children," said Mark Young, Canadian Golf Tours Inc. President.

The Tim Hortons Foundation Camps offer three programs to youth in your communities:
  • Summer Program - The Summer Program runs through the summer months for youth aged 12-16. Campers return each summer, for five years with programs becoming more challenging each year. The Summer Program helps youth develop life skills and coping strategies to help them achieve success in school and work, and encourage them to give back to their communities.
  • School Program - The School Program happens during the school year for grades 6-8. Partnering with schools from low-income neighbourhoods, students participate in two, three-day overnight visits to camp with their classmates, teachers and volunteers. At camp and between visits, students work to develop their personal wellbeing and academic success while working on a Community Service Project using the skills and tools the learned from Tims Camp!
  • Tims eCamp - Launching Summer 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic -With in-person camps postponed for Summer 2020, the Tim Hortons Foundation has launched an all-new Tims eCamp focusing on supporting youth emotionally, socially and developmentally during these challenging times. Campers who were registered to participate in the regular Summer Program have been invited to take part in this virtual eight-week experience that will support them to have fun, learn important life skills, and develop positive relationships in a safe online environment.
"The Foundation has taught me to be proud of my accomplishments and that no matter where we come from, we can be something," Kai, Tims Camps Alumni.

Tim Hortons ® Foundation Camps is a non-profit charitable organization founded in 1974 helping kids to change their stories for the better. A leader in youth development programming, Tims Camps support youth from low income homes between the ages of 12 to 16 - an important developmental time that helps shape who they will become as adults. Through a multi-year, camp-based program, youth learn skills like leadership, resilience and responsibility, which empower them to believe in their own potential and change their stories for the better. With seven camps in North America that run year-round Summer and School Programs, youth are supported to thrive when they return home, to excel in post-secondary education, to succeed at work and to contribute positively to their communities. The Foundation's funding comes from Tim Hortons Camp Day, fundraising activities, special events, and year-round public donations collected through counter and drive-thru coin boxes, as well as other donations.
