Alternative Fuel Tax Credit retroactively extended for propane autogas vehicles
The Propane Education & Research Council is encouraging propane autogas fleet operators to take advantage of the Alternative Fuel Tax Credit, which was recently passed by the U.S. Congress as part of the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2020. Full story
Lightning Systems receives electric cargo van order
Lightning Systems has received an order from the California Department of State Hospitals for 12 zero-emission, all-electric Ford Transit 350 HD models. The vans are being provided to the hospital system by Wondries Fleet Group, a fleet dealer in California. All 12 are Class 3 delivery vans and were purchased under the terms of a California state contract. Full story

Funding opportunity for zero- and low-emission heavy-duty vehicles
The South Coast Air Quality Management District released program announcements for the 2020 Carl Moyer Program, including the Surplus Off-Road Opt-In for NOx (SOON) Provision. Applications are currently being accepted under Carl Moyer Program Announcement #PA2020-04 and SOON Program Announcement #PA2020-03. At least $34 million is available. Full story

Toyota launches new electric car company with BYD
Toyota and BYD launched a new electric car company with the goal of “developing BEVs that appeal to customers.” In 2017, Toyota announced a major expansion of its electric car plans with 10 new BEVs and all models to have electric motors, but we have yet to see an all-electric car from Toyota come to market outside of China. Greenhouse gas emissions sink over the last decade
Since 2005, national greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have fallen by 10%, and power sector emissions have fallen by 27% – even as our economy grew by 25%, according to the 2020 edition of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) annual report on nationwide GHG emissions. Full story

Mickey, ROUSH build alternative-fuel mail delivery truck
McAbee Trucking recently purchased eight emission-reducing Ford F-750s with 26-foot Mickey van bodies that will be the first propane autogas trucks used for contracted parcel delivery between USPS locations in North and South Carolina. Full story
