Amazon is purchasing 100,000 Rivian electric vans, the largest order of EV delivery vehicles ever
CEO Jeff Bezos said Amazon has ordered 100,000 electric delivery vehicles from start-up Rivian Automotive in a push to make the company’s fleet run entirely on renewable energy. The order, which was confirmed by David Clark, Amazon’s senior vice president of operations, is the largest order for electric delivery vehicles to date. Full story

Cummins, Hyundai team up to commercialize electric, fuel-cell powertrains
Hyundai Motor Company and Cummins Inc. have signed a memorandum of understanding to evaluate opportunities to develop and commercialize electric and fuel cell powertrains, starting with the North American commercial vehicle market. Full story

NHTSA and EPA issue final rule revoking California waiver
On Sept. 19, 2019, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a final rule called “One National Program Rule,” which provides for nationwide uniform fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions standards for automobiles and light-duty trucks. New York offers fleets $20 million in vouchers for cleaner trucks
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that more than $20 million is available to New York fleets through a diesel truck and bus replacement program to help improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Full story

EPA requests applications for grants to help reduce diesel emissions from school buses
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is announcing the availability of approximately $10 million in rebates to public school bus fleet owners to help them replace older school buses. Upgrading buses with older engines reduces diesel emissions and improves air quality. Full story
