Ford investing $500 million in Amazon-backed electric truck startup Rivian for new vehicle
Ford is investing $500 million in the electric vehicle startup Rivian, and will sell a vehicle built on the company’s platform in the coming years. Rivian unveiled its own all-electric pickup and SUV models last year with plans to put them into production late next year at its factory in Normal, Illinois. Full story

Lightning Systems debuts new all-electric, zero-emission Ford F-59 model
Lightning Systems announced new battery-electric powertrain options for the Ford F-59 Model to support its customers with delivery and food truck applications. Full story

Electric truck maker Thor rebrands as Xos Trucks
The company formerly known as Thor Trucks announced on April 24 that it has rebranded itself as Xos Trucks. The Los Angeles, California-based OEM was launched two years ago. Full story

Allison Transmission acquires Vantage Power and AxleTech’s electric vehicle systems division
Allison Transmission Holdings purchased Vantage Power and AxleTech’s electric vehicle (EV) systems division. Allison Transmission says both of these acquisitions will complement its existing capabilities to advance electrification adoption in commercial vehicles. Full story

Dana launches light-duty EV powertrain
Commercial vehicle supplier Dana Inc. will produce a light-duty version of its TM4 Sumo electric powertrain. The new system, called Sumo LD, is available for purchase now. There are three versions of the powertrain making up to 250 kilowatts of continuous power and 885 pound-feet of torque. Full story

Mitsubishi introduces FUSO FE CNG concept in United States
Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc recently.unveiled its FUSO FE CNG concept truck. The CNG system on the FE CNG truck, developed by Agility Fuel Solutions, is certified to the California Air Resources Board’s optional low NOx standard. Full story
