DOE announces $79 million for bioenergy research, development
More than $79 million in funding will be available for bioenergy research and development including biofuels, bioproducts and biopower. This funding supports the Department of Energy’s (DOE) goal of providing consumers and businesses with a range of affordable, reliable and secure domestic energy options. Full story

FTA announces funding opportunity for innovations in public transportation
The U.S. DOT’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced the opportunity to apply for $15 million in research funds through the new Integrated Mobility Innovation (IMI) Demonstration program, which will support innovations in public transportation service models, payment systems, and automation applications to improve mobility across the nation. Kraft Heinz deploys Orange EV electric trucks at Ohio facility
The Kraft Heinz Company has deployed three Orange EV T-Series battery electric terminal trucks to its distribution center in Groveport, Ohio. The trucks will be operated by Kraft Heinz partner Firefly Transportation Services and will take on the bulk of work at the facility. Full story

Trillium has debuted PowerUP by Trillium, a program designed to serve electric vehicle (EV) fleets with EV charging. Full story

Germany tests overhead wires to charge hybrid trucks on highways
Germany is trialling a new highway that uses overhead electrified cabling to recharge the batteries in hybrid vehicles as they drive. The Siemens-developed eHighway is designed to work with a custom Scania hybrid truck developed by VW Group. Full story

USPS completes next-generation delivery vehicle tests
The Postal Service in March finished testing prototypes of trucks for its next-generation delivery vehicle program, the agency’s chief said publicly. But the closely-followed competition’s winner has not been announced. Full story

Oklahoma extends, modifies alternative fuel tax credits
Gov. Kevin Stitt, R-Oklahoma, signed into a law a bill that extends and alters Oklahoma’s tax credits for alternative fuel vehicles. Full story
