Early this month the GTA Board held a retreat to begin updating the GTA's strategic plan. The Board is looking at how the GTA can best continue to support its members as conditions change related to COVID-19, and more in person activities can happen. We look forward to sharing this update with our members in the coming months!

This past spring the Ford Family Foundation awarded Columbia Gorge Community College a grant to
conduct a child care center feasibility study. The study will gather information on the regional need for affordable child care and develop a business model to determine how a child care center can be operated on a sustainable basis. To find out more about the study, read here.
If you would like to participate, the direct links to the survey are available in both English and Spanish.
Surveys should be completed no later than Friday, August 20. Thank you for your input!

Do you have engineering challenges that you don’t have the bandwidth to assign to a full-time engineer? The University of Washington College of Engineering industry capstone program allows companies to propose and sponsor a project for a team of senior undergraduate engineering students, who embark on a full scale design process, resulting in a prototype or similar end-product. Benefits to sponsoring companies include getting a high-touch engagement opportunity to assess student talent and recruit for jobs and a low-cost look at an engineering problem. See the video below for the program overview:

Team projects start in January and finish in early June 2022. A team of 3-5 students puts in approximately 1100 hours of work over the course of the project, at a sponsorship fee of $15,000. Please visit the website for more information or contact the program's director, Jill Kaatz.
