2020 GTA  Annual Awards Finalists and Voting Open
The GTA's annual awards program is now open for voting!

Most importantly we'd like to thank you for your continued support, and extend our appreciation to all of our educators who are working under particularly trying circumstances. Thanks!

The GTA Board narrowed it down to two finalists from the nominations provided for each of our two categories.
  • Tech Leader of the Year: Rob Coatney of Zepher Flight Labs and Sierra Olympic Technologies
  • STEM Educator of the Year: Ajay Rundell of The Dalles High School/Dry Hollow Elementary and Tom Dalbey of May Street Elementary.
Please review the information on each of the deserving candidates and share your vote here. All employees at our GTA members are encouraged to vote, but please only one vote per person!

The GTA will give the STEM Educator of the Year $1000 for their work and the Tech Leader of the year will have the opportunity to direct a $1000 donation by the GTA on their behalf to a non-profit of their choice.

Thanks again for your time and support. Happy Holidays!

Voting will close on Friday, December 11th at 4pm.  You can vote here.

Strategic Energy Management Program
Commercial SEM is a cohort-driven model that helps participants look at how building occupants and staff use energy by examining the building systems, equipment, operating procedures and occupant behaviors. SEM focuses on no- and low-cost operations and maintenance improvements that deliver energy savings. Attend workshops offered in-person or virtually to learn best practices for integrating energy management and receive templates, examples, tools and support from energy coaches with a range of technical and organizational expertise. It is available for Pacific Power and Northwest Natural customers.  Learn more about the program here.
Solar-powered Trailers Help Fill Internet Dead Zones in Sherman County
Sherman County is turning to sun-powered trailers to fill gaps in high-speed internet coverage, according to a recently published OPB article.

The coronavirus brought a new sense of urgency to the long-standing issue of bringing rural communities online. As distance learning, remote work and telemedicine took root this spring, some Sherman County residents were still relying on satellite internet or even dial-up. The challenge facing Sherman County and areas like it is both geographic and topographic. Read the article by Bradley W. Park featuring Sherman County Judge Joe Dabulskis and GTA staff Carrie Pipinich here.
