A Message from Our President

Dr. Tammy Richardson

College of Business -1991

ONWARD: Together, Purposefully!

The 2026 Grambling University National Alumni Association National Convention was a tremendous success, and it was made possible because of you. Thank you to every member, chairperson, board member, chapter, presenter, sponsor, vendor, city official, GSU Leader, and supporter who contributed to an unforgettable convention. Your dedication, service, and unwavering Tiger Spirit continue to propel our Association ONWARD.

Throughout the convention, we celebrated our accomplishments while conducting the important business of our Association. Attendees adopted the 2027 GUNAA Budget, providing a strong financial roadmap for the coming year, and approved the majority of the proposed bylaws amendments, strengthening our governance and positioning GUNAA for continued growth and sustainability.

Congratulations to our newly elected National Officers who will officially begin their terms on January 1, 2027. We are excited for the leadership they will bring as they continue building upon the progress our Association has made. We ask every member to support them as they prepare to lead GUNAA into its next chapter.

Our work also continues through the Alumni House Brick Campaign. Every commemorative brick purchased represents an investment in the future of Grambling State University and leaves a lasting legacy for generations of Tigers to come. If you have not yet purchased your brick, we encourage you to do so and help us complete this historic project. DEADLINE - AUGUST 4th. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Friday, October 2, 2026 at 3pm CST at the Alumni Center.

As we look ahead, it's time to make plans for another Grambling tradition—the Bayou Classic! Hotel rooms are now available --reaching capacity SOON, and we encourage you to reserve your accommodations early before they sell out. We also invite you to join us throughout the fall as we proudly support our Tigers at football games, fall sporting events and alumni events across the country.

Thank you again for making this convention one of our best yet! Together, we have strengthened our Association, reinforced our commitment to excellence, and demonstrated that when GramFam unites, there is no limit to what we can accomplish.

In the Tiger Spirit, let's keep moving ONWARD!

GSU Athletics get $2 Million in Funding

Scholarships and budget balancing are the main ways athletics programs at Louisiana colleges plan to use their allotments of gambling tax revenue under a new state law, but their exact spending might never be known because the law doesn’t require them to disclose it.

The first annual allotment of sports gambling tax revenue was made available to Division I schools with football programs this month. The money comes from the Supporting Programs, Opportunities, Resources and Teams (SPORT) Fund, created during the 2025 legislative session.

Each program — LSU, UL Lafayette, UL Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Grambling, Southern, McNeese, Nicholls, Northwestern State and Southeastern — will each receive approximately $2 million annually. The law requires that money be used on things that benefit student-athletes, such as scholarships.
