A Message from Our President

Spring is a season of renewal, growth, and opportunity, and our National Alumni Association is embracing that spirit as we continue our mission to strengthen our beloved organization. With your unwavering support, we are making great strides in our priority areas, and I’m excited to share some key updates.

Springtime brings fresh energy to our efforts, and I encourage each of you to be part of our movement toward increased giving. Your contributions directly impact scholarships, alumni programming, and our ability to support our students and university. Let’s continue to build a legacy that lasts!

Our athletic programs continue to shine, and we stand proudly behind our student-athletes. Whether on the field, court, or track, they represent excellence and resilience. Let’s show our support in every way possible—by attending games, engaging on social media, and donating to athletic scholarships.

We remain committed to equipping our leaders and members with essential knowledge. We have several upcoming workshops focused on:

  • IRS Compliance – Ensuring our chapters meet nonprofit financial guidelines.
  • Parliamentary Procedures – Strengthening our meetings and decision-making
  • National Convention (July 2025) – Mark your calendars for July 10th – July 12! This will be an event you don’t want to miss.

A Special Call Meeting will be held on Monday, April 22, to vote on the 2025 GUNAA Budget. This is a crucial opportunity for our members to engage in the financial planning and direction of our association. Your participation is key! Details on time and access will be shared soon.

We continue to share thrilling sports matchups and community initiatives to keep our alumni spirit high! From championship pursuits to local alumni engagement activities, there are plenty of ways to connect and celebrate.

As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our commitment to:

  • Growing our membership to 10,000 strong – Every alum counts! Spread the word and help us reach this goal. Send them this link: https://form.jotform.com/222785670401152
  • Advancing our themes of Infrastructure & Innovation –we are strengthening our foundation and finding new ways to elevate our impact.
  • Send donations to help in the growth of this great organization. Click here to donate and if your company match funds, choose GUNAA as we are listed in most nonprofit databases.

I encourage you to stay involved, stay inspired, and continue to be champions for our alumni association. Together, we are shaping the future!

GramFam and AT&T Executive Leads with Excellence for the Next Generation

KTBS salutes leaders in the Black community who are still making history. AT&T's Louisiana President David Aubrey stays out in front of the African American community. He talks about being from a small city in northwest Louisiana. "I'm very blessed. You know, a country boy from Homer, Louisiana. You know, I moved to Shreveport and when I started working for this company, AT&T and the opportunity to have just been a blessing in my life. And so I just consider it an honor and a privilege," said Aubrey.
