A Message from Our President

As we move into February, we recognize and celebrate Black History Month—a time to honor the trailblazers who paved the way for us. Their sacrifices, resilience, and achievements have created opportunities that we now enjoy. It is our responsibility to continue that legacy, ensuring that future generations of Grambling State University students and alumni thrive. Therefore, we will continue to focus our efforts on alumni membership growth and reactivating chapters in the communities in which we live. The strength of our alumni association lies in our ability to engage, support, and uplift one another while ensuring that our beloved Grambling State University continues to thrive.

Two key focus areas for the upcoming year are innovation and infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on:

  • Membership – Expanding our reach and increasing engagement
  • Processes & Operations – Improving how we conduct 501(c)(3) business
  • Financial Management – Strengthening our financial processes and budgeting to secure a sustainable future

Our success depends on active participation, and we need more alumni to join committees to help drive these initiatives forward. If you’re looking for a way to make a tangible impact, now is the time to step up and get involved!

Also, our students continue to make us proud, and we want to ensure we’re supporting GSU in every way possible. Whether it's through attendance at events, donations to worthy causes, or advocacy, let’s show up and show out for our Tigers!

This year, we are embracing the theme Forward, which represents our commitment to advancing the mission of GUNAA and Grambling State University:

F – Foster a culture of giving

O – Outreach to engage alumni

R – Recruit new members & supporters

W – Work in partnership with GSU

A – Amplify GSU pride & legacy

R – Recognize and celebrate

D – Drive sustainable progress

As we continue to push Forward, let’s honor the past by committing ourselves to the future. The legacy of those who came before us is now in our hands, and it’s up to us to ensure that Grambling remains strong for generations to come.

Let’s make 2025 a year of action and impact!

2025 Institutional Priorities – Progress and Path Forward

Dear Grambling State University Community:

As we continue to make progress in 2025, I want to take a moment to share our key institutional priorities and the progress we are making to strengthen Grambling State University. Whether you are a student striving for success, a faculty or staff member shaping our future, an alum championing our legacy, or a board member guiding our vision—your role is invaluable in advancing our shared mission.

Through strategic partnerships, data-driven insights, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, we are focused on five critical areas that will define this year’s progress. We also extend our deepest appreciation to the Partnership for Education Advancement and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund for their investments in our institution, which are helping us build capacity and sustain long-term success.
