Dear Gilroy Community Members and GUSD Supporters,
I hope this message finds you well. As we move forward into the spring semester, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our students and staff. I am proud to see so many of our students continue to push themselves to their optimal potential in areas of academics, athletics and leadership. I am grateful to our staff that provide them with knowledge, guidance and care and encourage them to be innovative and creative. Our schools continue to be places of growth, resilience, and achievement, and I am so proud of all the hard work and dedication demonstrated by our students and staff members.
One of the cornerstones of our district’s success is creating safe, supportive learning environments where every student can thrive. It’s not just about academic excellence, but also ensuring that our students are given the tools and resources they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. We are proud to share that every middle and high school in our district now has a Wellness Center, where mental health professionals are available to assist students. These centers play a critical role in helping our students maintain emotional well-being and address any challenges they may face.
Looking ahead, our district is embarking on an exciting and important journey. In the coming months, we will begin developing a Strategic Vision and Facilities Master Plan, which will outline our needs, goals, and actions for the future. This is a crucial step as we plan for the continued growth and success of our district. To ensure this plan is comprehensive and reflective of our community’s input, we will engage our staff, students, families, and community partners in the input gathering process. We will hold community listening sessions to gather feedback and ideas. I encourage you to stay connected and participate in these discussions.
Please visit our website for more details, and remember—your feedback is essential to us.
I am grateful to our extended community for believing in our schools and students. This past month, several community members volunteered at our Rock the Mock events where high school students got an opportunity to participate in mock job interviews and learned how they can prepare for future employment. In addition to this, some of our schools hosted Career Days where community members shared their stories and experiences that have led them to successful careers. The African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child” reminds us of the importance of working together to build a bright future for our children.
Together, we can continue to build a bright future for our students. Thank you for being such an integral part of our school community.
With appreciation and gratitude,
Anisha Munshi, Ed.D.
